X-Factor Battle of the Stars is a variant on the popular X-Factor series shown on ITV. In Battle of the Stars, various UK celebrities are assigned to the categories of 16-24s, over 25s and 'groups' under the mentorship of Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, and the man we all love to hate, Mr. Simon Cowell, to see who will emerge as overall winner.
Battle of the Stars is slightly different from your common, garden-variety X-Factor. Whereas X-Factor plucks complete unknowns from their ordinary lives and gives them a chance at temporary superstardom, Battle of the Stars is an event in which nine c-list celebs battle it out for a greater share of the limelight. Although the age groups remain, as does the much of the basic format of the show, the celebrity version runs for a much shorter period. We're talking days instead of weeks here. Those days should provide viewers with the same entertainment factor that have made its parent show such a runaway success, as celebs get their share of public humiliation and expert grilling by the show's panel of judges.
XFactor Battle of the Stars 2006 starts on ITV on Monday May 19th and runs for eight consecutive nights.
