What a prospect!
FA Cup Final 2007 Betting Preview
Chelsea's nail-biting win over Blackburn Rovers 2-1 after extra-time, and Manchester United's demolition of Watford 4-1, means that the much anticipated showpiece between the Premiership's two top teams, at the re-built Wembley Stadium on May 19th is on!
The Treble? Again?
United, who have won the trophy a record 11 times, will now be making their 18th FA Cup Final appearance - their eighth final under the guidance of Alex Ferguson. United are directly on course to emulate their 1999 treble by winning the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
Anything You Can Do!
Incredibly, Chelsea are still in the running to win four titles this season! They've already won the Carling Cup, have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and are lying a mere three points behind United in the Premiership.
What's more, four days after the FA Cup final, these two teams could well meet again in the Champions League final. In the semis, Chelsea face Liverpool whilst United take on AC Milan.
There can surely be no doubt that United and Chelsea are England's best teams this season in the Football Betting markets. But does this bode well for a cracking FA Cup final? Too often a meeting of great sides can end up as a dour, tightly-fought, defensive battle. However, with United's Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo finding the back of the net with alarming ease and Chelsea's Essien and Drogba also in peak goal-scoring form, this clash of the giants could be a most memorable one.
And by the time they meet at Wembley, one of these two teams will already be the holders of the Premiership crown!
Mourinho, meanwhile, can't wait for the showdown with the Reds. "I wouldn't be sad if we had to play them three times in a fortnight," he said. "The way we've both played this season is absolutely unbelievable. We're both still fighting for the three major trophies, which is amazing. What we have to try and do is make sure our league game against them at Stamford Bridge is a final and make sure we go into that game with a chance to be champions."
Meanwhile Alex Ferguson is keeping mum on his team's chances although the twinkle in his eye and canny smiling face after United's win against Watford may mean he's quietly confident.
