The French Open is the second of the four Grand Slam competitions of the year that really get tennis betting underway.
This year's competition starts on the 27th May and finishes with the Mens final on the 10th June.
The French Open began in 1891 with only the French Nation taking part, and then in 1925 it opened its doors to the rest of the world. In 1968 it was the first Grand Slam to go "Open" enabling amateurs and professionals to take part. Roland Garros Tournament takes place in Paris between May and June The surface played on is clay which slows the ball down and creates a high bounce. This does not always favour with some of the players, Roger Federer and Pete Sampras, two great champions have won all the other Grand Slams but have never won this one.

Womens number one, Maria Sharapova will be looking to improve on her crashing defeat in the Australian Open final against Serena Williams (6-1 6-2), who has not played much in the last few years since winning Wimbledon in 2005 but now seems to have found her old form back and will be hungry for another title at the French Open.
Equal prize money is now given to the Men and Women Single winners following in the footsteps of the US and Australian Open.
