Next England Manager Betting
Betting is on to see who will replace Sven Goran Eriksson as the next manager of the England football team. There has been wide speculation as to who will fill the shoes of the scandal ridden Swede following recent exposures in the British press.
A recent poll conducted by the BBC placed Martin O"Neill as the people"s choice, with Stuart Pearce and Sam Allardyce hot on his heels. O"Neill, who is from Northern Ireland, was a success story for Celtic after he joined the club in 2000, winning them the Treble in his first season as manager and taking the team all the way to the UEFA Cup final last year. O"Neill is also widely tipped to be the FA"s choice. Pearce, who manages Manchester City, could be a strong "indigenous" contender, with a good record of playing for and coaching the England squad. Bolton boss Sam Allardyce is also a popular favourite. Other notables include Charlton"s Alan Curbishley and Middlesborough"s Steve McLaren (Sven"s current assistant).
