The Favourites in 2007 Rugby World Cup Betting :
The final now lines up with England facing South Africa after the Springbocks beat a disappointing Argentinian side. The scoreline flattered the South African s somewhat as Argentina seemed to lose composure and throw too many wayward passes, leading to interception tries. Their error count was horrifically high and you can't afford that many against one of the top sieds in the world at the moment.
England World Cup Betting Odds
Next week the line up for the final is :
England v South Africa
But who will take the eventual honours? Read on for all the exciting Rugby World Cup Betting information. Most people who bet on sports are agreed that New Zealand looked to be the World Cup winning team and should have captured this year's Rugby Union World Cup trophy. And even with odds of 1/2, there were still bound to be plenty of takers. But was it a done deal? No, because as we all know, many out-and-out favourites, in the world of sports, have come a cropper!
The closest contenders to the All Blacks :
Australia's comeback win in the Tri-Nations tournament shows that the All Blacks are vulnerable in certain areas and with odds of 9/1 the Wallabies could have beeen a very good Rugby World Cup bet. But, as we know now, England bullied the Aussie pack out of the game with a magnificent performance from the front five, especially from prop Andrew Sheridan.
South Africa pushed New Zealand all the way in the Tri-nations and justified their position as second favourites in the winning stakes. The Springboks at 11/2 would see their fair share of betting action. The 10/1 odds for France, who have the all important home advantage, could prove a very good bet when the medals are awarded. Ireland at 14/1 had an outside chance but couldn't reproduce their form of the six nations.
The Original Pools
Pool A
This should be an easy pool to predict. South Africa are clear favourites to finish top, with England almost sure to take second place. Samoa, Tonga and the USA fill out the remaining places. Of course, England could cause an upset by beating the Springboks!
Pool B
At 1/2, the Aussies should ease their way to the top of Pool B. It?s unlikely that the Welsh, after suffering their recent heavy defeat against England, could surprise with a win over Australia. Fiji, Canada and Japan are the other teams making up this pool.
Pool C
New Zealand should top this one. The real battle will be for second place between Italy and Scotland. The Italians won impressively at Murrayfield in this year?s Six Nations and on this form, could well be on their way into the next round.
Pool D
This is perhaps the most difficult pool to predict in the entire tournament. Yes, France has home advantage, but the presence of the talented Irish and the always improving Argentinians means there are no certainties. An on-song Ireland could provide upsets and the bullocking Argentinian side always present a danger.
