Ryder Cup, Ireland 2006
Hot on the heels of the British Open and US PGA comes another treat for Golf fans in the shape of the 2006 Ryder Cup. The event, which is the 36th tournament since the Ryder Cup began, will be held at the K Club in County Kildare, Ireland, from September the 22nd to the 24th.
Unlike the Majors, the Ryder Cup is a biennial team tournament held between Europe and the United States. Final team selections for the 2006 tournament - which are based on the top ranking players from both continents - will be decided after the 20th of August for the USA and the 3rd September for team Europe, although 2006 Majors winners Tiger Woods and Colin Montgomerie will undoubtedly make the selection.
