Six Nations Rugby Betting 2007
Six Nations 2007 Preview
England were struggling to find any sort of shape in the autumn of 2006, whilst Ireland and Wales showed how far they have grown as international sides with their performances throughout the 2006 six nations rugby tournament. Scotland, although still improving, seem to find it difficult to find the consistency needed at this level. We must mention who remain powerful in their physicality but lack the coherence and unity up front to give enough ball to threaten the other sides.
The Six Nations Rugby Teams
So, as betting is well under way for the 2007 six nations competition, there have been all sorts of comment on how we each team will do. England now have a change of management and who knows what the new choice - Brian Ashton - will bring in terms of a new look squad and a different level of thinking and approach to how they play the game.
Ireland seem to be favourites and who would doubt this on their recent form in the Autumn? The irrepressible Brian O'Driscoll will give many problems as always and his leadership skills seem to be growing game by game. But it is the tenacity of the Irish Rugby union side that you usually associate but now they have something normally attributed to the world leaders' flare! There performance against South Africa showed that they have a back row as quick as any in the world to date, and that is just the icing on the cake when it comes to a team that can solidly defend to a man.
Wales must be closely behind Wales, as England continue to falter as they try to rebuild a side to emulate the 2003 World Cup unit. They have power up front as always but there is very little behind. Our fly half selection is now racked with injury and do we dare wish for a certain Mr Wilkinson to make a miraculous return? It can't be doubted that they miss his kicking game.
Scotland will have a good side this year and you can see them beating Italy and maybe even England and France (going on current form!) but you just can't see that they are strong enough to beat the remaining two and take the championship Grand Slam in rugby.
And that really leaves France who, let's face it, you just never know. They seem to be the only team in any sport who you could say can either win the whole tournament or take the wooden spoon. Maybe that's over-stating it but they aren't at their prime as usual, the squad is lacking stability which will effect them gelling on the pitch, but never write them off!
