Ryder Cup Betting 2008
The PGA decided that the 37th Ryder Cup will take place at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky from the 19th - 21st September 2008.
Valhalla Golf Club is thought to be one of the top 100 courses in the USA. This will be the largest sporting event in Kentucky's history.
The Team for the Ryder Cup
Former number one player, Nick Faldo will be captain of the European Team, taking over from last year's captain, Ian Woosnam.
Nick Faldo has had many golf victories in his career including the Masters, The British Open and the PGA tours to mention just a few.
Nick has been a great player and watched by many a Ryder Cup Betting fan, having played at it eleven times. His popularity in the USA will surely be to the team's advantage, he has just been given a contract to commentate for the ABC and ENSN television networks.

Brief History of the Ryder Cup
The Ryder Cup was founded by Samuel Ryder a very successful Seed Merchant from Manchester. He took up golf as a means of relaxation after working so hard and enjoyed it so much he practised every day, rain or shine but not Sundays.
By the 1950s he had a six handicap and became Captain of the Verulam Golf Club in St Albans. In 1926 he was watching the unofficial match between the Americans and British and enjoyed it so much that he suggested they had a regular tournament between the two nations and make it official with a solid Gold Cup which he donated. £3000 was needed to finance the British team, only £2500 was raised so Ryder himself made up the deficit.
The first tournament was played in 1927 at the Worcester Country Club.
