2008 Summer Olympics Gets Underway

The 2008 Beijing Olympics finally get under way today with an eagerly anticipated opening ceremony expected to be a spectacle on a scale never seen before. Of course, every Olympic opening ceremony is bigger than the last as each host country attempts to outdo the one before but this time the billions watching can expect a display which will reach new levels in the art of blowing away the rest of the world.

Gold will undoubtedly come from the shooting team which is traditionally strong but here’s also a healthy crop of silver and bronze within reach of the Great Britain team and a final medal total in the upper thirties is entirely within reach.
