I’m A Celebrity Get Me In There

November 17th, 2008 by Atticus

It’s back to the jungle with a new crop of career struggler’s and unknown ‘celebrities’ for the new series of ‘I’m a Celebrity – Get Me Out Of Here!’, otherwise known as ‘I’m Not A Celebrity – Get Me In There’. This show is a bit like ‘Big Brother’ TV Betting only it’s shorter and some of the contestants have articulacy. It’s a lot more appealing because the character flaws and strengths that the characters gradually reveal over the three weeks they are in there are more interesting and are more relevant to our everyday lives.

The joust currently underway in India between a team which has just put Australia to the sword and a newly resurgent England that enjoyed a spectacular defeat of South Africa earlier this year may well be an event which reveals to we cricket betting fans whether or not India is now the top cricket team in the world. Their score in the first One Day International of 387 – 5 is the highest tally India has ever scored against a test Nation and the highest score ever conceded by England playing in this format.

The Future of UK Horse Racing

November 13th, 2008 by Paul

Last week, at the Free Bets Blog, we touched on the pros and cons of all-weather horse racing tracks. Continuing with that theme, we wanted to look at the state of Horse Racing venues and what the future holds. Not far from where I live, barely a couple of miles, is an old abandoned racecourse called Bogside. The track is still visible in parts, but the stadia has eroded into a rubble landscape. At one time, Bogside racetrack served a number of communities and plenty of great meets were held there, including The Scottish Grand National. Now it lies in a silent, forgotten place. My trip down memory lane does have a point, however, when you realise that over the last eighty years only 1 new racecourse has been built.

Is Arsenal the Model Football Club?

November 12th, 2008 by Atticus

It is tempting to view the current condition of Arsenal Football Club as on oasis of stability and good practice by anyone sensing impending chaos in the future of the English Premiership. With Everton and Newcastle on sale like shiny boys-toys in a Dubai shop window, Liverpool’s owners facing foreclosure by the banks and Manchester City’s former owner losing his British visa the Gunners nice stable board of fully accountable directors operating under a sustainable financial structure must surely be the envy of anyone who worries about the future of our National game.

The X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing –A Weekend of Disaster

November 10th, 2008 by Simon

Fundamental flaws have been revealed in each of the prime time, BBC and ITV flagship shows, the X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing over the past weekend. In the case of both, contestants with an outstanding ability, and, in at least one case, the talent to have won, have been ousted in favour of candidates with far less talent. This has left enraged X Factor betting and Strictly Come Dancing betting fans of both of the shows contemplating the dubious value of the public vote.

Flat Racing

November 7th, 2008 by Atticus

This coming Saturday sees the end of the Flat Racing season in this country – or does it? All- weather racing surfaces have been promoted for some time in Britain but there has been much resistance form both trainers and horse racing betting fans to this innovation. How Many Rascals Does it Take to Fix a Race

November 6th, 2008 by Paul

You have to wonder why, some people do the things they do. A few days ago, Dean McKeown, had his Horse Racing licence revoked. McKeown, was recently banned for 4 years after alledgidly being found to defraud punters by holding horses back in races. He was given special permission to keep racing from the British Horseracing Authority while he appealed against the decision. Then on Monday, Dean McKeown, while riding at Southwell on a horse called, “Rascal in the Mix”, a pre-race favourite, rode the horse home in fifth position.

Hamilton at Interlagos

November 3rd, 2008 by Simon

All Hail Hamilton – there’s nothing to be said to diminish the massive achievement of this man, who pitted his wits and skill against a crop of excellent rivals and, at the age of 23, came out on top to become the youngest Formula 1 Champion of all time. Ironically, his arch rival, Fernando Alonso had been the previous youngest champion having won the title in 2005 at the age of 24. Hamilton is also the first Afro-Caribbean driver and the first black man to take the top Formula 1 title.
