2010 US PGA Betting Preview

August 10th, 2010 by Simon

The 2010 US PGA takes place at Whistling Straits, Wisconsin, between Thursday 12th – Sunday 15th August 2010. Most US PGA golf betting fans will have heard the news that Tiger Woods is no longer the betting favourite ahead of a Majors golf championship.

In fact the deterioration of form on Woods’ part has seen his Ryder Cup place become highly questionable. Currently, Woods is 10th in the United States Ryder Cup team list and misses an automatic selection unless ups his game at the US PGA Championship.

Attention now turns to the remaining American, Irish and South African prominent golf players who have been headlining the Majors this year. Phil Mickelson and fellow countryman Steve Stricker look the best bets to keep the US PGA title within American borders.

A strong South African contention includes 2010 Open Championship winner Louis Oosthuizen, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Charl Schwartzel, Trevor Immelman, Tim Clark and Rory Sabbatini.

Irish hopes lay with the ever-improving Rory McIlroy and former US PGA winner Padraig Harrington alongside Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and debutant Shane Lowry.

Justin Rose leads UK interest in winning the US PGA betting stakes. Paul Casey is another British hopeful but both players are outsiders to lift the 2010 US PGA Championship. It is pretty much slim pickings from the Brits, Ian Poulter, who had a disappointing Open Championship, will be trying to find the form that won him the World Matchplay crown earlier this year.
