2010 World Darts Matchplay Betting Preview

July 15th, 2010 by Paul

On Saturday, the 17th of July, the 2010 World Matchplay Darts tournament showcases at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool until the final on July the 25th. World Matchplay Darts is always a big fans favourite and as usual the pre-tournament favourite belongs to Phil Taylor. Taylor has won an incredible 10 titles in the tournaments 16 year history and he’ll be looking once again to take the crown this year and make it a hat-trick of victories.

World Matchplay darts betting sees Englishman, James Wade, tucked nicely behind Taylor as second favourite. Wade was champion of the World Matchplay Darts championship, back in 2007 and beaten finalist in 2008.

Australian, Simon Whitlock, is enjoying a second-coming to the PDC circuit since his return back in 2009. Whitlock was beaten by Taylor, earlier this year in the final of the 2010 PDC World Championship. A fine show of form in the Whyte and Mackay 2010 Premier League Darts has seen Whitlock climb into second place. Could be one to watch, although, Whitlock has landed in the top-half of the draw, which means he has a potential clash with Taylor in the semis. Worth a gamble, though.

Raymond van Barneveld, has been drawn in the bottom-half of the draw, which means a meeting with Taylor would only happen in the Finals. The big Dutchman has, however, some decent names to overcome before a Final showing is even possible. Adrian Lewis, Mark Webster and Andy Hamilton are all likely opponents in the bottom half of the draw for the 2010 World Matchplay Darts tournament.

Others, worthy of a mention are Scotsman, Gary Anderson and Terry Jenkins (beaten finalist in 2007 and 2009).
