Who’ll Win The Premiership 2010

March 30th, 2010 by Paul

About a month ago I wrote off Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premiership 2010 title in my Drogba vs Rooney showdown piece, since then however, Arsenal have proved they are made from sterner stuff than I previously reported. Somehow, Arsenal have dragged themselves back into contention for the 2010 Premiership crown.

With only six games to go, a meagre 4 points seperate the top three : 1st, Manchester United 72pts, 2nd Chelsea 71 pts, 3rd Arsenal 68pts. Premiership betting fans looking at the final run-in of games might feel that Arsenal have an easier set of games to play than either Manchester United or Chelsea.

Australian Grand Prix 2010 Betting Odds

March 25th, 2010 by Simon

Vettel vs Alonso! Red Bull vs Ferrari! Speed vs Experience! Yes, it’s the Australian Grand Prix, and we are only 1 race into this season and already F1 commentators have it down to a 2 man battle for the drivers championship. Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) and Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) seem to have the edge this season judging their car’s performance in Bahrain. Lewis Hamilton managed 3rd but even he’ll admit that McLaren have a little bit to go in the speed department.

Button is a little out of things at the moment – I guess he’ll continue to feel that way for the rest of the season – how do you except that you are the reigning champion, yet, you play second fiddle in your team. F1 betting fans understand that you can’t be rivals and teammates at the same time, cracks will appear in time, and Mclaren’s PR team will be in overdrive to prove that all is well in the Hamilton-Button partnership ahead of the 2010 Australian Grand Prix.

Can Mon Mone Win The Grand National Twice in a Row?

March 24th, 2010 by Paul

As the National Hunt season draws to a close and after having a wonderful and enthralling four days of Cheltenham betting we now turn our attention to Aintree and the 2010 Grand National. Last year’s surprise winner, 100-1 shot Mon Mone returns after putting in a decent performance at the Cheltenham Gold Cup where he finished a respectable third.

Of course there are thirty intimidating fences, two and a quarter miles of muscle sapping track and thirty nine other horses standing in the way of another Mon Mone Grand National success. Only four other horses have achieved this massive feat of winning two Grand National’s in a row : Abd-El-Kader (1850, 1851), The Colonel (1869, 1870), Reynoldstown (1935, 1936) and Red Rum (1973, 1974) – so, you could say that history was stacked against Mon Mone from achieving two Grand national wins in a row but it’s not impossible.

2010 Calcutta Cup Betting Odds

March 11th, 2010 by Paul

It doesn’t get much more meatier than a Scotland vs England Calcutta Cup match at Murrayfield. This Saturday the 13th of March sees these two “Auld Enemies” once again lock horns in the second last weekend of the 6 Nations Championship. This year Scotland are once again playing for pride, while England have an outside chance of winning the competition as long as they prevail against the Scots and then carry that momentum forward to Paris against a very strong and fast French side.

Perhaps, it is a game too far for England, to even conceive that they will win in France but by a handsome scoreline as well, leaves most Six Nations betting punters shaking their heads at the task ahead. Still, England have to overcome the Scots on their own turf, something they haven’t been too good at in recent years.

With the wind-up of the jump season in the not-too-far-off distance, most punters will be thinking of Cheltenham betting odds or even the Grand National betting. However, before we get ahead of ourselves there is the 2010 Imperial Cup to take place this weekend at Sandown.

Paddy Power, who sponsor the Imperial Cup, are again offering a £75,000 bonus to the winner of the race on top of the £70,000 they’ll already receive if they can go on and win a race at next week’s Cheltenham Festival.

The Oscars 2010 Betting Odds

March 4th, 2010 by Paul

This Sunday I’ll be brushing down my tuxedo and glossing up those bashed in winkle picker shoes I bought back in the early 90′s for a grand night in front of the TV to watch The 2010 Oscars ceremony.

Considering myself to be an aveage film buff type (hey, if Johnathon Ross can get away with it, then so can I) I’d thought I’d share my views on who’ll pick up the “golden nuddy man bling” for all you Oscar 2010 betting punters.

March 2nd, 2010 by Paul

March heralds the start of another exciting Formula One season. Bahrain hosts the big start on Sunday the 14th of March and this year looks to be a close fight between McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari. Williams, Sauber and Renault will no doubt play their part in this years F1 Championship as well. The good thing is, we are starting this seasons campaign without all the neg press that was hanging over the sport this time last year.

Of course, we welcome back a Formula 1 great in Michael Schumacher, who’ll be driving for Brawn-Mercedes. Fernando Alonso joins forces with the fit again Felipe Massa at Ferrari. Red Bull have a seriously srtong pairing in Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber who both finished 2nd and 4th respectively last season.
