Champions League Groups Match 2 UK Teams Betting

September 28th, 2010 by Paul

It’s Matchday 2 in the Champions League betting group stages and for the UK teams involved in the competition – it’s a bit of a mixed bag! Injuries and players lacking confidence seem to be haunting the English teams. Manchester United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal have all suffered injuries to key players within their teams.

In fact, Tottenham Hotspur have only one recognised centre-back ahead of the visit of Dutch side, FC Twente, on Wednesday evening. Scottish champs, Glasgow Rangers, have also players out thanks to injury, however, the biggest loss for the Glasgow giants will be the loss of striker, Nikica Jelavic, who is ineligible to play in the Champions League.

Will the Commonwealth Games in India Go Ahead Betting

September 23rd, 2010 by Simon

I bet there are a few twitchy people in London watching India’s Commonwealth Games debacle unfold and thinking, “Yeah, we’ll be alright for London 2012, won’t we?” The situation in India is now beyond repair, which is a shame for India as they seek to push themselves forward as one of the progressive superpowers in the world akin to China and the Beijing Olympics.

Unfortunately, for Delhi, the Commonwealth Games is becoming a national embarrassment and a political nightmare for India.

The pictures of a filthy Athletes Village are anything but abhorrent – and those images have stalled the departures of athletes from Scotland, Wales and New Zeland. Five other nations are now showing serious concerns about sending their athletes to the games. The Scottish sports minister Shona Robison, said there were still “serious health and safety concerns” about the athletes accommodation but that she was “very confident” Scotland’s athletes will fly out to Delhi, but when is still open for debate. England have announced that they will leave on time as scheduled.

Bootcamp X-Factor 2010 Betting Preview

September 21st, 2010 by Simon

One of the things that surprised me about this years X-Factor Auditions was just how much guest judge, Nicole Scherzinger, likes to get up and dance. Yep the American singer, who leads the Pussycat Dolls, and current girlfriend of F1 driver Lewis Hamiltion, sure did shine at the auditions that she has been invited back to Bootcamp by Simon Cowell to add some well-needed spice to the show with the absence of Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole.

Bootcamp is the place where the X-Factor betting begins to heat up as the auditionees who made it through the 1st phase reveal even more of their talent or lack of it, in most cases. X-Factor Bootcamp betting favourites will be trimmed down to 4 groups of 6 (Male Soloists 14-24 yrs, Female Soloists 14-24 yrs, Over 25′s and The Groups) who will continue on to the next stage of the competition – the Judges Houses where each Judge, selected to mentor over their chosen group, will trim the wannabees down to 4 per category in time for the Live X-Factor TV shows.

Haye vs Harrison Betting Preview

September 16th, 2010 by Paul

Where did this matchup come from, just last week we were introduced to the fact that David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye would be putting his WBA World Heavyweight title on the line against one time close friend, Audley ‘A-Force’ Harrison. When both fighters were being interviewed at the pre-fight press meeting, I sat there watching Sky Sports almost open-jawed as Haye announced that he had gotten more emails from fight fans, than anything else, suggesting they get this bout on.

Now, you can call me many things but sucker I ain’t – so either Haye doesn’t receive very much email from fight fans or Audley Harrison is the biggest email spammer going. Where’s the fight everyone wants – Haye vs one of the Klitchko’s? Still this is boxing we are talking about and as most boxing betting fans will tell you – expect the unexpected.

Manchester United vs Rangers Betting 14092010

September 14th, 2010 by Paul

Another ‘Battle of Britain‘ will take place at Old Trafford tonight as the Champions League Group C match between Manchester United and Rangers kicks off. Although to call this contest a ‘Battle’ is a trifle unjust. Manchester United are indeed the superpower between these two sides and Rangers will need to fight something akin to ‘guerrilla warfare‘ to take something from the game.

Bookies, not surprisingly, have Man U betting favourites in the Manchester United vs Rangers betting odds. Media focus will be on Wayne Rooney, left out of Saturday’s 3-3 draw away to Everton, saving the young striker from a barrage of personal abuse from his old club, as he fights his personal demons due to the intensity of newspaper headlines printed against him.

European Championship Qualifying Betting 03-09-2010

September 2nd, 2010 by Paul

The Euro qualifiers get underway tomorrow night (I know, Friday night football, once again UEFA show disdain towards fans travelling to the match citing that they are acting in the benefit of the players’ clubs, not too sure on that one) and for the home nations of England, Scotland and Wales it’s a chance to make a credible start to their European Championship qualifying campaign.

England will be looking to bury some of that hurt they inflicted on the nation by taking another positive step to atone for their miserable World Cup in South Africa. Capello and co have the Bulgarians to contend with, while Wales travel to Montenegro, all the teams feature in Group G alongside Switzerland – whom England will face come Tuesday night’s European Championship qualifying matches.

You’d expect Theo Walcott to headline England’s frontline alongside Rooney. Crouch is missing through injury but Jermain Defoe is expected to be fit and ready to play if needed. At the back it now looks certain that Joe Harte will be England’s #1 choice.
