It didn’t quite go to plan for Sebastian Vettel at the second practice lap ahead of the F1 Monaco betting on Sunday. Vettel laboured home in 5th place, a full half a second behind Fernando Alonso who finished fastest in the afternoon session.

I’m pretty sure, no one at Red Bull is getting too concerned about Vettel’s poor lap time. It is after all, the Saturday session that will deem the grids starting places and that sought-after pole position. Once the race begins proper, you can be sure that Vettel will be summoning everything his Red Bull car can give him to win the most prestigious and glamorous race in Formula One.

If Novak Djokovic could bottle what has turned him into a tennis invincible and sell it, he would be a millionaire. OK, I suppose he’s one already, many times over, but that’s not the point I’m getting at. The big Serb has been in scintillating form since winning the Australian Open at the turn of the year.

The World’s No 2 is unbeaten in 2011. Djokovic has played in seven tournaments so far this season playing a total of 37 games and truimphed in every one. It’s no wonder tennis betting fans are scrambling to get money on Djokovic to win the French Open.

It certainly has been an enjoyable start to the first half of the year for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. Just last month, the Queen along with half the nation watched her grandson get married which made us all remember how to smile again. This week, the Queen made the short trip across the Irish sea to become the first monarch to visit Ireland in over 100 years. Inbetween those historic events, The Queen’s horse Carlton House has been made favourite for the classic 232nd Epsom Derby which takes place on the 4th of June.

Saturday night, the 28th of May 2011, at the Wembley Stadium, in London, hosts the final of the Champions League as two footballing giants, Manchester United and Barcelona, go head-to-head once more to be crowned masters of Europe. Can Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United succeed where they failed two years ago? It seems a lifetime ago, when Ricardo Villa waltzed around Man City’s defence with flair to win the FA Cup for Spurs with a truly wonder goal. That was exactly thirty years ago, and Man City’s last near effort of trying to win the FA Cup. Stoke have never reached a FA Cup Final in the clubs 148 year history. Which is why the Man City V Stoke betting is tight.

The owners have invested heavily to try and bring some silverware to the success-seeking Eastlands club. Having secured 4th spot and entry into the promised land of Champions League football next season, Man City will now focus their attention to bringing home some domestic success.

Billy Davies must have breathed a huge sigh of relief when his Nottingham Forest team secured that vital 6th spot at the weekend. The win meant that Nottingham Forest grabbed the last place in the Championship Play Offs 2011. Just a few months ago, Forest were competing for that guaranteed 2nd spot in the Championship. However, Forest then hit the buffers and went on the mother-of-all slumps, free falling to 7th in the Championship – out of the Play Offs as we highlighted in an earlier post : The Race For The Championship.

Somehow, Davies rallied his troops and castaway those jitters. Forest began playing with confidence again and they won their last 4 games which secured that last remaining play-off place.

Old Trafford hosts a pivotal title decider on Sunday as the Premier League’s top two, Manchester United and Chelsea, square off. If Man Unt win, then the league title will be in the bag as they’ll be 6 pts clear with 2 games to go. A draw between Man Unt & Chelsea will have Unt 3 pts clear with 2 to go and see Man Unt as favourites. However, a Chelsea win would see both clubs level on points but Chelsea go top on goal difference.

The Blues have hit a purple patch since their Champions League dreams were left in tatters by Man Unt some weeks back. Chelsea’s recent form of 25 points from 27 in the Premier League is indeed impressive. It’s the form of Champions. But their mid-season dip could still come back to haunt them.

There’s a famous storm in the Pacific called El Niño, which creates havoc every 5 years or so due to climatic warming and cooling periods. Tonight, just off the Mediterranean coast another storm is brewing and this one is called Jose Mourinho.

The 2nd leg of the Champions League Semi-Final between Barcelona and Real Madrid takes part tonight and it is promising to be a torrid affair with the Catalan giants leading 2-0 from the first leg.
