Ayr Gold Cup Betting Odds

September 17th, 2009 by Paul

ayr-gold-cupScotland’s richest sprint handicap for thoroughbreds – The Ayr Gold Cup – takes place over the next 3 days. An expected crowd of over 25,000 will file through the gates looking forward to seeing some magical races. Tomorrow (Friday the 18th of September 2009) is Ladies day, where the first of the 3 major races takes place – the Ayr Bronze Cup.

The third group of highest weighted horses, twenty seven in number, will contest for the Bronze Cup, the first time ever it has been ran on a Friday. The second group of 27 horses will be entered into the Ayr Silver Cup on Saturday and the 27 highest weighted horses will run in the main event – The Ayr Gold Cup, also on Saturday.

All three of the cups are run over six-furlongs and the stall positions in which the horses are drawn is always one of keen debate between horse racing betting punters.

The theory of the draw, is that the stall position of the Bronze and Silver Ayr Cup winners can determine where the likely winner of the Ayr Gold Cup will be positioned. For example, if the Bronze winner comes from a high stall, say 25 and the Silver winner also a high stall, say 20, then your best bet is looking for a strong contender from around the high stalls for the Gold Cup winner. Remember, it is just a theory, it sometimes lucks out, but it sometimes doesn’t as well. Which is why it makes this racing card so interesting for many racing punters.
