December 14th, 2011 by Simon

The PDC World Darts Championship for 2012 sparks into life this week, as some of the biggest names in World Darts will compete at a noisy Alexandra Palace in London for the coveted title and a cheque worth £200,000 to the winner.

Last year, we witnessed Adrian Lewis win the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship, and although the big, likable Englishman has been drawn in the more favourable bottom half of the draw, it will be some feat if he can, somehow, retain his title.

Gary Anderson Must Prove He Has The Finishing Quality To Stamp Out The Power

April 28th, 2011 by Paul

888 Sport Free BetsMany have tried and many have failed. Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor is still dominating the Premier League Darts as we enter into the 12th week of 14 at Liverpool tonight. It is a mark of greatness that Taylor carries with ease. Lesser men would have faltered after losing his World Championship crown when he crumbled in the quarters. Then on the first night of the 2011 PDC Premier League, Taylor was pummeled 8-2 by Adrian Lewis (the man who took his World Championship crown). The writing was on the wall for Taylor.

But like all good champions, Taylor found that winning was easier than losing and has since won ten Premier League games in a row and become the first man to qualify for the final four at Wembley.

Phil Taylor Out To Win His 14th PDC Darts World Championship

December 29th, 2010 by Simon

It’s been a hectic week and a bit for current PDC Darts World Championship holder, Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor. Just over 10 days ago he came runner-up in the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award, narrowly losing out to jump jockey, AP McCoy, then he had a first round match against Gary Mawson in the PDC Darts World Championship to contend with, plus in amongst all that he had the premature birth of his Grandchild.

Obviously, something jarred with Taylor after the match with Mawson, when he found out that match commentators, Sid Waddell and Stuart Pyke, where critical of his win. Since then Taylor has had several outbursts in the press and also dismissed Dane, Per Laursen, 4-0 in the second round.

Now Taylor faces the flamboyant Peter ‘Snake Bite’ Wright in the last 16 of the competition. The latest PDC Darts World Championship betting odds have outsider Peter Wright at 200/1 from SkyBet to win the competition. It’s would be an uphill struggle normally for Wright to overcome Taylor, but the task now seems mammoth for this colourful character after Taylor has vowed to show the commentary team (Waddell & Pyke) the full might of his dart playing abilities.

2010 World Darts Matchplay Betting Preview

July 15th, 2010 by Paul

On Saturday, the 17th of July, the 2010 World Matchplay Darts tournament showcases at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool until the final on July the 25th. World Matchplay Darts is always a big fans favourite and as usual the pre-tournament favourite belongs to Phil Taylor. Taylor has won an incredible 10 titles in the tournaments 16 year history and he’ll be looking once again to take the crown this year and make it a hat-trick of victories.

World Matchplay darts betting sees Englishman, James Wade, tucked nicely behind Taylor as second favourite. Wade was champion of the World Matchplay Darts championship, back in 2007 and beaten finalist in 2008.

Australian, Simon Whitlock, is enjoying a second-coming to the PDC circuit since his return back in 2009. Whitlock was beaten by Taylor, earlier this year in the final of the 2010 PDC World Championship. A fine show of form in the Whyte and Mackay 2010 Premier League Darts has seen Whitlock climb into second place. Could be one to watch, although, Whitlock has landed in the top-half of the draw, which means he has a potential clash with Taylor in the semis. Worth a gamble, though.

Can Anyone Stop The Power

December 22nd, 2009 by Paul

You want to win the PDC Darts World Championship 2009 then you need to stop one man, Phil Taylor. Simple! Taylor or ‘The Power’ is a phenonomen in the World of PDC Darts. Since turning professional back in 1988, Phil Taylor has won a remarkable 14 world championships (an even more incredible feat when you consider that PDC Darts wasn’t conceived until 1994). And the current World Number 1 got his defence of the title underway by whitewashing, Colin Monk, 3-0 at Alexandra Palace.

Taylor has got competition in the form of Barneveld, Wade, Anderson and King but competitive competition, I’m none too convinced. There is just something about Taylor that renders his opponents ‘powerless’ when they meet on that ‘oche’. He’s not unbeatable, but he is hard to beat.

Betting Odds World Matchplay Quarter Final

July 23rd, 2009 by Simon

phil-taylor-world-darts-matchplayLightning strikes shaved into his head, Phil Taylor showed once again just what a force he is within the World Matchplay championship as he crushed Kevin Painter 13 – 3 in the second round. It seems when it comes to Taylor and winning the World Matchplay crown, lighting does strike more than once as he eyes up his 10th title.

Painter, suprisingly had control early on in the game as he broke Taylor’s throw in the first leg, but that was about it for Painter as Taylor won the next 10 legs convincingly and then played out the remaining games in cruise control.
