It’s that time of the year again, when we hope the fluffy, white stuff will fall from the sky on that very special day of the year. Yep, it’s White Christmas weather betting. And it is a very welcome distraction for most punters prior to the festive Premiership betting furore, with 3 games played in 5 days.
The chances of snow landing this year on Christmas Day seem pretty good for a change. Currently, the UK is in a cold snap with eastern winds blowing over the country. There seems to be a possibility that East Anglia and Central Southern England will expect snow showers this week. But will it still be around for Christmas Day? According to the Met Office most of the country will experience rain, sleet or snow next week. So, it does look promising.

Only six days to go until the public decide the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and all of a sudden, everything has changed. Lewis Hamilton, for ages the full-on 1/2 favourite to be crowned after securing the Formula 1 DriverÂ’s World Championship in Brazil last month has drifted out to 6/4. Rebecca Adlington, twice a gold medallist in the 2008 Beijing Olympics has elbowed him out of the way to become 5/6 favourite with online bookies and making BBC Sports Personality of the Year betting fans scratch their heads in alarm at this surprising turnaround.

Uh oh . . . the fur is flying in the literary world. The head of the jury for the Nobel Literature Prize has declared American authors to be too ‘insular and ignorant’ to be considered for this esteemed award. Horace Engdahl has deemed that Europe is still the centre of the literary world. Cue much huffing and puffing from the luminaries of American literature. David Remick, editor of the New Yorker magazine, notes that an academy, guilty of failing to recognise the works of Marcel Proust, James Joyce and Vladimir Nabokov is hardly in a position to pontificate about what is, or is not, great writing.

Not many people are aware of weather betting but is becoming more popular for a bet with the more volatile climate that the UK seems to be developing over the recent years.
The old favourite was betting on a white christmas betting but this has now been broadened to offer a month by month option for online weather betting. You can opt for
Wettest month
Driest month
Warmest month
Coldest month
Top temperature (For month and summer)
Lowest Temperatures
A good thing about the weather in the United Kingdom being so erratic is that it brings an element of volatility to the market. This is because the bookies themselves will probably have a few problems trying to predict what’s going to happen, so that means, for example, if you had bet on June 2007 being the wettest of the year, the odds would have been pretty good as it’s a summer month.
It might now be worth looking to the end of the summer and having a look at the possible dry autumn months. What will you get on October being the driest of the year?
So don’t let the current wave of excessive moisture dampen your spirits – get into weather betting and make some money out of it!
