Arsenal vs Celtic The Return Leg

August 25th, 2009 by Simon

It seems Celtic have little chance of doing anything other than turning up at The Emirates Stadium tomorrow night (Wednesday, August 26, 2009) and going through the motions to keep the score respectable. Arsenal need another professional display to match their quality performances so far this season to proceed into the group stages of the competition. Celtic, already trailing 2-0 from the first leg of the Champions League qualifier, really have nothing to lose but to go out and play football and this is why this tie remains a potential hazard for the men from North London.

Championship Betting Odds 2009/10

August 4th, 2009 by Simon

With just days to go before the Coca Cola Championship 09/10 season gets underway, we thought for all you football betting enthusiasts that we would run a post here at the Free Bets betting blog on who might be promoted or relegated come next May. Without question, the Championship is THE toughest league in England. Sure, the Premiership has the big 4, the big name players and a very nice TV kitty dividied out to all the competing teams. However, in The Championship, there are about a dozen teams all equipped to win the league and the remaining are not that far off the mark either. The margin between success and failure in The Championship is very tight indeed.

Come in No.23 Your Time’s Up

July 21st, 2009 by Simon

David Beckham got a sharp response from the LA Galaxy fans on Sunday night and the message was loud and clear, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!” Large sections of the crowd were extremely unhappy by the No.23′s presence and it was reported that the boos were louder than cheers. Beckham now finds himself against a rock and a hard place. Quite frankly, I can understand the dissapointment of the LA Galaxy fans, they paid an extortionate amount of money to rent brand Beckham and help boost the profile of the MLS (Major League Soccer).

English Premiership 2009 Summer Transfer Talk

July 9th, 2009 by Simon

Okay, I’m aware we are barely halfway through summer, it’s only day 2 of The Ashes series and the English school holidays have yet to take place. But think about it this way, it’s less than 5 weeks to the new 2009 / 10 Premiership season kicks off, and I am buzzing with anticipation of how the new Premiership betting season will shape-up. Birmingham, Wolves and Burnley add some new interest and I wouldn’t be so quick as to write any of them off as relegation fodder (remember, how Hull and Stoke were supposed to join WBA last season and look how that turned out.)

European Championships Under 21 Betting Odds

June 25th, 2009 by Simon

england-under-21England’s Under 21′s take another big step tomorrow (Friday the 26th June 09) in achieving European Championship success. England U-21′s face the host nation Sweden in this crucial semi-final and must be confident of disposing the host nation and facing either Italy or Germany in the final. Having caught some of the matches I have to say I’m mightily impressed by the way Stuart Pearce has this young, talanted side playing football. And with Pearce proclaiming, ‘There’s better to come…’ from his team, you begin to wonder , from a football betting prospective, just how good this England U21 team is?

Premiership and SPL Super Sunday Betting

May 19th, 2009 by Simon

On Sunday, the English Premiership and the Scottish Premier League (SPL) brings their seasons to a conclusion and a lot of questions will be answered. Two teams out of Sunderland, Hull, Newcastle and Middlesbrough could lose their Premiership status and join West Brom in the Championship next season. While up in Scotland, Rangers and Celtic, go into the last game of the season still fighting to be crowned SPL Champions. It is bound to be a nervy end to the season for all the clubs and their fans involved and for Premiership betting and SPL betting neutrals it makes for a classic last day scenario.

Master of the Mind Games

April 21st, 2009 by Simon

As we enter into the business end-of-the-season, the nerves begin to jitter some, and as usual the mind games start. Messrs Ferguson and Benitez have been throwing sly comments back and forth all season. But now, as usual, Fergie has upped the anti. He (Ferguson) spoke of Benitez’ ‘Arrogance’ towards fellow Premiership manager, Sam Allardyce, when after Liverpool scored the 2nd of the game, Benitez signalled that the game was over. Hardly, shocking or dragging another managers name through the mud is it? But this is Ferguson, this is his way, this is how he normally wins these mind games. With the Premiership betting stakes beginning to sear, this has now become the expected norm for a title challenge to Man U.
