Acdcording to public opinion this is a done deal. Harry Redknapp will be the next England manager. Such is the swathe of public opinion, that Harry Redknapp will succeed the now departed Fabio Capello, certain bookies have suspended taking anymore bets on the next England manager betting. But not all and it’s just as well…

It seems “logical” for Harry Redknapp to be the next England manager. He’s stated in the past his desire to manage the national side and The FA have stated, in the past, they’d like to go back down the homegrown route for the next England manager to be English. However, amid all this hyperbole there’s still a few obstacles to overcome for Harry to manage England.

Tottenham Hotspur Director, Daniel Levy, will not be wanting his manager to leave. Fact! Spurs are exceeding this season and are genuinely pushing for the ‘Holy Grail’ – the Premier League title – they’ll probably fall just short but should qualify for Champions League football with some conviction next year. Levy will be wanting BIG compensation if he’s to allow Harry to go off and manage England.

Then there’s the “Lukas Modric factor” – here’s a player that Harry was determined was not going anywhere last Summer – yet, with still nearly half of the season still to play, Harry is expected to wave goodbye to his Spurs players and especially his little playmaker, whom he’d grounded from moving away from White Hart Lane – if Harry does leave then you’d expect Modric would be telling his boss that he reeks of “double-standards“. Still this is football we are talking about and everyone knows just how fickle football really is…

During all this hullabaloo, we have Stuart Pearce taking temporary charge of the Three Lions. Pearce, himself is a contender in the next England manager betting stakes. Having cut his teeth for the U21′s for the last 5 years, Pearce will be given the reigns for the friendly England international match against Holland. Personally, I don’t think Pearce will get the job permanently. Although, this man is England through and through, their is a Euro 2012 Championship to contend with looming on the horizon and it’s too much of a gamble for the FA to appoint Pearce. As his managerial experience falls short on the big stage – Premiership or otherwise.

There are others who deserve a mention, in the next England manager betting odds. Most are foreign, such as Guus Hiddink, Jose Mourinho, Rafa Benitez and Arsene Wenger. All have a taste of the English culture and, most importantly, the English media. One darkhorse is Roy Hodgson, the current WBA manager. He’s got 37 years of experience, including International experience with Finland plus he’s bossed at some big European clubs including Inter Milan. The only besmirch on his impressive CV that being his premature stint at Liverpool.

Yet, it’s Harry who the English footballing public love and want… My advice, is be careful for what you wish for. For every Alf Ramsey or Bobby Robson there’s always a Don Revie, Glenn Hoddle or Steve McClaren scenario waiting to implode.

The main focus of this weekend’s Premier League betting will be at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester on Sunday as title rivals Man City and Tottenham will lay down their intentions of winning the league title race.

Roberto Mancini has seen his team turn in some indifferent performances since the turn of the new year. Three defeats and two wins have tempered the earlier furore of punters claiming that Man City would walk towards the league title this year. Granted, two of those aforementioned defeats came in the Cups, but it has punctured the mood that Mancini’s City were all-conquering.

Tottenham’s form of late, has been impressive. Three wins and one draw since the start of 2012 has mobilised Spurs up to 3rd in the Premier League, just 5pts off Premier League leaders Man City. The fact you need to go back to the 11th of December to find Tottenham’s last league defeat is a testament to the style of football which Harry Rednapp has Spurs playing at the moment.

Vincent Kompany is still suspended and his admission from the Man City team in the last two games is apparent. Yaya and Kolo Toure are away playing in the Africans Cup for the Ivory Coast. While Tottenham will definetly be without Emmanuel Adebayor as his loan contract dictates he’s not allowed to play against Man City whom he’s still an employee off.

Last time this pair met, Tottenham were beaten convicingly at home 1-5 by Man City. Could this be payback time for Tottenham?

Man City have a proud home record in the league this season (unbeaten in 10), however you have to back to the 1991-92 season for the last time Man City did the double over Tottenham in the league.

You tend to lean towards a score draw when thinking about a prediction for the Man City v Tottenham betting.

It’s going to be an interesting January for all the clubs involved in the League Cup Semis Betting both North and South of the Border. The Carling Cup Semi Finals are held over 2 legs, home and away, and the teams still involved are Championship duo of Crystal Palace v Cardiff and the All-Premier League affair between Manchester City v Liverpool. The winners of the Carling Cup qualify for the UEFA Europa League.

In Scotland the League Cup, or to give its full Sunday name – The Scottish Communities League Cup – is sponsored by the Scottish Government. The participating teams still left in the competition are Celtic v Falkirk and the Ayrshire derby of Ayr v Kilmarnock. The Scottish League Cup semis are one-off games played at Hampden Park. Unlike its English counterpart, there is no European qualification for the eventual winner.

Crystal Palace v Cardiff

Crystal Palace haven’t reached a major final since their FA Cup final appearance back in 1990. Manager, Dougie Freedman, has turned the clubs fortunes around this season, despite being favoured for relegation by the bookies. Palace recorded a famous QF win at Old Trafford to set-up this SF clash with Cardiff. Palace aren’t known for their goal scoring ability this season although they have managed to shore-up that leaky defence.

Cardiff are on a rich vein of form at the moment, which has propelled them to 3rd in the Championship, and are just a mere 2pts from top spot. Cardiff are prone, however, to the odd off-day and their strikers will need to take their chances against the frugal Palace defence. Home advantage will feature greatly in deciding who’ll progress from this League Cup Semi-Final.

First Leg 10th of January, 2nd Leg 24th January 2012

Man City v Liverpool

The Premier League’s top team, Man City, will seem confident ahead of their League Cup Semis Betting ties after their recent 3-0 win over Liverpool at home. Of-course the cup matches are always difficult to judge the outcome when they reach the latter stages. At home, Man City are invincible, and their pretty tough to beat away from home as well.

Man City will be heavy favourites to win the 1st leg, so it is likely that the 2nd leg of this Semi-Final tie at Anfield will determine who’ll win this double-header.

Liverpool are beginning to reap the benefit of the return of Steven Gerrard, but he’s still nowhere near his best despite fleeting glimpses of promise. The ‘Luis Suarez Situation’ will have an effect on Liverpool, his banishment from the team will be heavily noticed – Suarez is too big of a prolific player for Liverpool – and Andy Carroll isn’t up to the job in hand.

Ayr v Kilmarnock

An all Ayrshire League Cup Semi-Final clash is bound to get both sets of fans excited, especially as both teams are playing attractive, attacking football at the moment. Killie manager, Kenny Shiels, must be happy that he missed out on facing Celtic in the semi-final draw but the intensity of playing bitter rivals, Ayr United, even if they are in a division below, will probably bring its own set of problems.

Saturday, 28th of January 2012

Falkirk v Celtic

Celtic will start as heavy League Cup Semis betting favourites despite Falkirk having knocked out Rangers in one of the earlier rounds. Falkirk haven’t featured in a Scottish League Cup Final since 1948 and they’ll be determined to redeem this fact. But Hampden is a big, wide ground which can dispose frailties in teams very easily. Falkirk will need to really believe in themselves if they wish to overcome Celtic.

It’s another day of Old Firm harmony as the 2nd meeting, of this 2011/12 SPL season, between the two Glasgow giants takes place. With the game taking place at Celtic Park, this evening, it means the East End side go into this match as favourites in the Celtic v Rangers betting.

The Winter period hasn’t been kind towards Rangers. As November began, the Gers had a massive 15 point lead over Celtic. Since then, that lead has been squandered to just a single, solitary point and tonight Celtic have the chance to leapfrog their inner city rivals with a victory and claim top spot in the SPL for themselves.

Rangers will be without long term injury loss, Steven Naismith, however it looks like Lee McCulloch will be available yet Dorin Goian will be suspended after both players were sent off in the Christmas Eve defeat to St.Mirren.

Celtic are still without main defensive pair of Daniel Majstorovic and Glenn Loovens. Influential winger, James Forrest, looks a doubt but the good news for Neil Lennon’s team is that front pair of Georgios Samaras and Anthony Stokes are available for selection.

I expect both teams will put in a frantic, passionate performance and despite the bookies favouring Neil Lennon’s team in the Celtic v Rangers betting odds, I’m going to predict a score draw as the final outcome of this last Old Firm game of 2011.

The big Premier League match this weekend will be at Anfield on Sunday as unbeaten Man City take on Liverpool in what is sure to be a 5-star spectacle. Both teams come into this match with contrasting results from their previous games, which adds an extra dimension to the resulting Liverpool v Man City betting odds.

Man City suffered defeat in midweek after a gruelling game against Naples in the Champions League. It’ll be interesting to see how Roberto Mancini’s team reacts to the task ahead. However, their league form (11 wins 1 draw) has been impressive. City have bagged 42 goals so far in this campaign, which is a testament to their free-flowing strikers and attacking midfielders. Edin Dzeko (10), Sergio Aguero (10), Mario Balotelli (6) and David Silva (4) account for two-thirds of City’s goals scored.

Liverpool snatched victory away to Chelsea last weekend in a largely entertaining match. The final goal from Glen Johnson was supreme as he coasted past Chelsea’s defence and snugly pushed the ball past Petr Czech. Yet, it was the delivery of the pass from Charlie Adam which made it all possible for Johnson. Adam looks like he’s beginning to really enjoy his time in a Liverpool shirt. With Gerrard suffering a season mostly spent on the treatment table, Kenny Daglish has relied more, than he would have originally thought, on the young Scotsman to power Liverpool’s midfield.

The current Liverpool v Man City betting odds have Man City as pre-match favourites (6/4) no doubt thanks to their impressive away form (City have scored 23 times in just 6 away games). Liverpool are unbeaten at home, so far this season, but have drawn 4 out of their 6 home fixtures which is why the 9/5 price the bookies offer for Liverpool to win this match. The draw is a highly fanciable 9/4!

Given the amount of striking talent on offer from both sides, you have to feel they’ll be goals in this game. First goalscorer betting has Sergio Aguero as favourite at 6/1, followed by Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli (both 13/2) and the classy David Silva (8/1). Liverpool’s threat comes from Luis Suarez (7) and Andy Carroll (9) but you can get odds of (14/1) on Charlie Adam bagging the first of the game.

The World and European Champions come to Wembley this Saturday (12th of November) to face ‘The Three Lions’ as England start their preparations for Euro 2012. It’s hardly been the most ‘football focussed’ build-ups to a match with the ‘poppy row’ consuming media coverage. Thankfully, that dispute has been settled and commonsense won the day – now we can all concentrate on the England v Spain fixture instead.

The pre-match England v Spain betting odds has Spain as favourites with best betting odds of 10/11 from Ladbrokes. You can get England at a respectable 15/4 from Stan James with best betting odds of 5/2 from Sky Bet for things to end all-square come the end of the match.

One bet that catches the eye is Spain to beat England 2-1 which will give current odds of 8/1 from William Hill. If you use William Hill’s free £25 bet you’ll get back £225. We have a multitude of free bets on offer at Free Betting Online which can be used on any of the big football betting games taking place this weekend.

England Team News

Frank Lampard will be the new England captain this Saturday as John Terry is rested to the subs bench. Fabio Capello stated he will use this opportunity to freshen up the side with Phil Jones likely to start against the Spanish.

Gabriel Agbonlahor has been ruled out of the fixture after failing to shrug off a hamstring injury.

Spain Team News

It’s not often that a team like Spain comes along and plays football the way it’s meant to be played. It’s probably a once-in-a-generation thing. Vicente Del Bosque probably has one of the easiest jobs in football just now – his team practically picks itself.

Del Bosque has chosen a highly experienced team to face England. Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and Jesus Navas are fit and ready to play.

Despite receiving their heaviest defeat, ever, to their derby rivals, City, Manchester United are still firm favourites – in the punters eyes anyway – to lift the 2011 Premier League title. At the Free Betting Online Blog, we’ve been running a special poll before the Premier League betting kicked off this season and the results are now in…

Since mid-July of this year, we wanted to know, from you our reader, just who would win the Premier League this season. We gave you the choice of the Top 6 teams in England… Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Having our Premier League Poll run from mid Summer to late Autumn meant that high profile transfers wouldn’t just sway anyone’s decision. We’ve had 9 Premier League games now played – a decent run for all the clubs involved – and some stunning results which have had an effect on where people have voted week-to-week.

There have been some extraordinary results and a few coupon busters along the way, such as : Arsenal 0 Liverpool 2; Spurs 1 Man City 5; Man Unt 8 Arsenal 2; Stoke 1 Liverpool 0; Blackburn 4 Arsenal 3; Spurs 4 Liverpool 0; Man Unt 3 Chelsea 1; QPR 1 Chelsea 0 and Man Unt 1 Man City 6.

The Story so far…

Despite suffering some heavy and embarrassing defeats, Arsenal have somehow managed to claim a respectable 7th in the Premier League. Yet, even only a quarter of the way through the season – you can’t see them pull 12 points back from Man City. Liverpool have been reborn under Daglish but still struggle sometimes against lesser opposition. Chelsea are undergoing a transitional period and they’re results will prove that. Spurs look solid at home yet their away form will lose them valuable points.

Yes, it is City who revel in top spot at the moment – 5pts clear of Unt – but can they hang-on? It’s a massive question and it one which will be revealed in time but despite the promise that the blue-half of Manchester will walk away with this title – our poll shows differently – even after that heavy defeat last week, Manchester United are STILL the punters choice on who’ll win the 2011-12 Premier League Title.

The Premier League Poll standings and their percentage of the vote.

Manchester United – 41%

Liverpool – 19%

Manchester City – 17%

Chelsea – 11%

Arsenal – 7%

Tottenham Hotspur – 5%

70 people voted on the Poll.

You can be sure that Free Betting Online will always have the very latest free bets on offer, you could even try a Free £10 bet on the outcome of who will win the 2011/12 Premier League title.

It is going to take a herculean effort from Scotland to pull off the biggest shock the foootballing universe will have witnessed in years in order to gain an automatic play-off place for the Euro 2012 Championships.

Of course the hot favourites to win ahead of the Spain v Scotland Betting are the Spanish. The bookies have Spain as 1/6 on that they’ll taste victory tonight. The Scots lumber in at odds of around 16/1 to win in Spain while the Draw is a very eye-catching 7/1.

In fact the best bet of Scotland qualifying for the play-offs is by Lithunia to beat the Czechs tonight (best bet of 6/1).

Spain have injury worries over Xabi Alonso, Raul Albiol, Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta. But you can be sure that their replacements will be every bit as keen to show Spanish Head Coach, Vicente del Bosque, that they should be first team regulars.

Scotland are still sweating on the fitness of Kenny Miller, Craig Mackail-Smith, Barry Bannan and skipper Darren Fletcher.

However, one thing the Scots have in their favour ahead of the Spain v Scotland betting is spirit. Craig Levein has seen his team progress in every game since that woeful night back in Prague when the Scots boss elected to play without a striker. Still it’s a massive task ahead of the Scotland team and everyone North of the Border tonight will be praying that ‘Dreams do come true!’

It’s the start of an important double headers for Scotland as they prepare to take on Lichtenstein on Saturday. If Scotland can defeat Lichtenstein (something they struggled to do back in September 2010 at Hampden, when they needed a 97th-minute injury time winner to see off the battling Lichtenstein) then they travel to Alicante on Tuesday looking to take something from the home of the World Champions – Spain.

Darren Fletcher misses out through a throat infection as well as Robert Snodgrass with an ankle injury. Other doubts are Alan Hutton and prolific striker Kenny Miller but manager Craig Levein will hold off naming his team to face Lichtenstein until the last minute to to see if the pair are fully fit.

Scotland have progressed well since their near-horror-show against Lichtenstein 13 months ago. They’ll be looking to perform well and beat the mighty minnows well ahead of the massive qualifier next Tuesday against Spain.

Montenegro understand that anything but a win will cancel out their chances of finishing top of the group. They must beat England on Friday night then win against Switzerland away next midweek to knock England into a play-off scenario.
