Cheltenham The Biggest Horse Racing Festival in the World

The Cheltenham Festival doesn’t start till March, however, such is the hype behind this premier racing card that with still 50 days to go till it starts the papers an online buzz surrounding the event is big, very big. I haven’t got an exact figure for how much money is bet at Cheltenham during the 4 day meet, but I’d imagine that somewhere between the £400 million and £500million mark would be a good estimate. It proves Cheltenham is HUGE!

This year, however, the buzz is even more intense as the Gold Cup clash between Kauto Star and Denman is bound to start a Cheltenham betting frenzy for punters. Both horses are tied at one win apiece, the winner of this outcome will see the thoroughbred’s stock go through the roof.

If that isn’t enough for all you betting punters out there, you can even bet on how much Guiness will be drunk over the four days at the Cheltenham Festival. Paddy Power opened a market last year, expect them to do the same yet again in 2010.
