Crucible Betting 2010

April 13th, 2010 by Paul

Snooker comes back to its spiritual home this weekend as the Crucible in Sheffield welcomes, once again, the 2010 Snooker World Championship. At a time when Snooker seems to be going through a bit of a mini-crisis and the moneymen are working hard to try and reinvent the game to help bring back its appeal isn’t it apt that Snooker takes shelter at the Crucible for the next 2-3 weeks as Snooker World Championship 2010 betting fans can become nostalgic for the days of Higgins, White, Parrott, Taylor, Thornburn etc..

Looking at the draw for this year’s Crucible battle is interesting. Ronnie O’Sullivan has a tough path to make it all the way through to the final. Potentially, O’Sullivan, could meet Mark William of Wales in the 2nd Round, and then take on either Stephen Hendry or Mark Selby in the quarters. A Maguire Vs O’Sullivan semi-final is a very real possibility.

The other half of the draw has last year’s winner, John Higgins. Higgins could face the eternal youthful Steve Davis (making his 30th World Championship appearance, incredible) and has a potential banana skin written all over it for Higgins. If the Crucible crowd get behind Davis, who knows where this run could end. Yes, I know big “if’s” there, but this is the Crucible, and so many legend Snooker moments have taken place under it’s roof and it might be time for another to happen. More likely, however, is that Higgins will face either England’s Ali Carter or Shaun Murphy in the semis.

Below are the latest odds on who’ll win the 2010 Snooker World Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
