Derby Betting Odds 2009

This Saturday (6th of June 2009) sees one of the World’s most prestigious, flat thoroughbred races take place. You might know it better as ‘The Derby‘. Much of Britain has been basking in an early June heatwave this last week but forecasters are predicting that Epsom might be under a few heavy rain clouds in the lead-up to Saturday’s big race. This talk of wet weather has seen Brian Meehan think long and hard before finally agreeing to include ‘Crowded House’.

One thing for Derby Betting fans to ponder is that, there is good chance that this years winner might be Irish, with over half of the horses taking part in The Derby coming from across the Irish Sea.

My tip for this one is Black Bear Island (8/1) as he impressed in the Derby trials and looks a good outside bet.

As usual a bumper crowd is expected for this blue riband race, here’s hoping it’s a memorable one.
