Diego and Terry a 22 Year Grudge

November 18th, 2008 by Simon

Tomorrow night, Wednesday the 19th November, Diego Maradona manages his first game in charge of Argentina in a friendly international match against Scotland at Hampden Park. Such is the interest in the controversial Maradona that the game is being beamed live to over 150 countries. But there will be 1 man inside Hampden Park tomorrow night who won’t be idolising over the diminutive Argentinian – Terry Butcher.

Former England defender, Butcher, still finds it hard to find any forgiveness towards Maradona, after that ‘Hand Of God Goal‘, 22 years ago at the Mexico World Cup. Nowadays, Butcher is assistant manager to George Burley’s Scotland team as they struggle to find some consistent form in their bid to qualify for the South African World Cup in 2010.

Butcher has been quoted as saying he is likely to be sent off if he comes face-to-face with Maradona, “I think I’m 4-1 to get a red card in the tunnel – it would be the fist of Terry Butcher rather than the hand.” says Butcher. My advice to Butcher is its better to kiss then make-up. Yep, give him a ‘Glesga Kiss’, Terry! But you better be on your knees while you attempt it. ;-)

Here at the Free Bets Blog we are giving our readers the chance of £20.00 free bets if you think Scotland has a chance of getting a result from this game or even better will Butcher let his emotions get the better of himself and get sent off.
