England Cricket Crisis Leaves Australia Upbeat

January 8th, 2009 by Simon

Australian cricket may be going through a bit of a lean spell at the moment and about to hand over their title as the best cricketing nation on the globe to either India or South Africa but their still smiling. Why’s that then? We’ll, for one thing the England Cricket captain crisis is certainly giving them (Australia) something to laugh about. In just 6 months time, the two nations meet to contest the 2009 Ashes.

But 6 months, surely that’s enough time to sort out England’s problems. Looking at England’s previous, probably not. You see, just 6 months ago, England appointed Kevin Pietersen as their skipper and promises of a new way forward were batted from every mouthpiece. Exciting times, indeed. 6 months on and … we’ll, we’re back to square one again.

In just over a fortnight, England leave these shores once again to tour the West Indies and you have to say that this isn’t ideal preperation, is it? It is obvious there is a massive rift within the team when you have the former captain trying to get-rid of the head coach, succeeding then resigning himself. And now Andrew Strauss is left to pick up the pieces and quickly or the Aussies will be laughing even harder in the lead up to the Ashes.
