English Premiership 2009 Summer Transfer Talk
Okay, I’m aware we are barely halfway through summer, it’s only day 2 of The Ashes series and the English school holidays have yet to take place. But think about it this way, it’s less than 5 weeks to the new 2009 / 10 Premiership season kicks off, and I am buzzing with anticipation of how the new Premiership betting season will shape-up. Birmingham, Wolves and Burnley add some new interest and I wouldn’t be so quick as to write any of them off as relegation fodder (remember, how Hull and Stoke were supposed to join WBA last season and look how that turned out.)

Manchester United have got rid of Cristiano Ronaldo and the little Argentine prophet, Carlos Tévez, and have brought in injury prone Michael Owen, which will either be seen as a masterstroke from Ferguson if it all goes right, and who is to say it won’t this being a ‘World Cup’ season.
Chelsea are still swatting off Manchester City over the purchase of John Terry. It seems strange to see Chelsea becoming a ‘selling club’ but such is the strange, financial predicament hanging over all our top clubs at the moment. I can’t see Chelsea selling Terry, but you can be assured all this talk will be doing the Blues skipper no good whatsoever. New boss, Ancelotti, will no doubt want this speculation ended as soon as possible as he tries to revive a new era for Chelsea.
As for Liverpool, it will be interesting to see just how they start their season after running United so close last season. The purchase of Glen Johnson from Portsmouth is a steady move and also securing Yossi Benayoun for a further 2 years all bodes well for the men from Anfield.
I’ll be running a much more indepth article on the chances of All the Premiership teams as the big kick-off gets nearer, so keep your eyes peeled for that one. However, for the moment I’m just glad to have got some of that football talk out of my system, ahhh feels much better, now how’s England’s Ashes betting chances looking?
