Grobbelaar Quits Hell’s Kitchen
April 23rd, 2009 by SimonIt’s been a traumatic week in Hell’s Kitchen as the pressure of the competition rises. However, one major shocker was the quitting of the show by former Liverpool goalkeeper, and bookies favourite to win the competition, Bruce Grobbelaar. The 51-year-old offered himself up for eviction, instead of one the remaining competitors being sacked, stating that he wanted to be reunited with his wife as his reason for leaving.
When later quizzed about his resons for departure, Grobbelaar stated that his emotions were on edge and that the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster was also affecting his judgements. Grobbelaar was Liverpool’s goalkeeper on that fateful day.
Hell’s Kitchen chef, Marco Pierre White, pleaded with Grobbelaar to stay, saying he ‘Needed him in his kitchen’ however, Grobbelaar was adamant that his time on the pressure-cooker show was at an end.
Grobbelaar’s exit has blown Hell’s Kitchen betting odds wide open. Ade Edmondson (4/6) and Linda Evans (5/2) are now hot favourites to win the show. But as we all know, it just takes one slip-up to change everything and with the ever competitive Anthea Turner (12/1) waiting in the background, Hell’s Kitchen is sure to serve up a few surprises before it finishes.
