Hadden Italian Showdown

The writing is very much on the wall for Scots Rugby coach, Frank Hadden. If Scotland lose to Italy at Murrayfield this Saturday then Hadden’s days as the Scotland boss will be short. Despite glimpses of promise of what this Scotland team can produce, it’s results that matter. With the 2011 Rugby World Cup creeping ever closer, Scotland need to feel that they have the right man for the job in place. Scottish rugby needs victories, not promises of what-might-be, and Hadden needs to deliver.

With defeats to Wales and France, it has been a poor start to the 6 Nations Championship for Scotland. They now face a stuffy Italian side in what looks like the wooden spoon decider. The Scots have been beaten twice in two years running by the Italians and no-one needs reminding of the rugby lesson they delivered to Scotland two years ago at Murrayfield where the Scots were trounced 37 – 17. A repeat of that performance and Hadden can basically call it quits there and then.

France were booed from the park after their recent win against Scotland, highlighting how much the Scots dominated the second-half. Yet, despite that impressive second-half display, Scotland still suffer from schoolboy errors on the park which makes it harder to win games, especially at this level. It is this lack of self-discipline in the players that has put the Scots manager in the firing line, it is now time for the players to their boss and the fans that not only can they play good rugby but they can also win games as well. Starting with a win against Italy on Saturday!
