Murray Marches On in US Open
We are ardent fans of Andy Murray, here at the Free Bets Blog, and as many of you US Open tennis betting punters are aware, have proclaimed that the UK Tennis ace is certain to win a Grand Slam. Last night, Murray, swept aside Stanislas Wawrinka (6-1, 6-3, 6-3) to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open. He now meets the impressive Argentine, Juan Martin del Potro, who is only a staggering 19 years of age and has won his last 23 matches.
It’s interesting to note that Murray first came to light after winning the US Open Boys Championship back in 2004 when he was just 17. Now, 4 years later, here he stands proper, in the quarter-finals against a boy 2 years his junior. Tennis certainly seems to be becoming a young man’s sport.
Ladbrokes are offering odds of 8/1 for Murray to win the US Open Grand Slam while Sky Bet have Murray at 12/1 to win the title outright. It is a great achievement for the talented Murray to be only 3 games away from winning his first ever Grand Slam. And you just know that this year was all about improvement, next year will be when the boy Murray becomes a man and bags some credible silverware.
