Murray Wimbledon Betting Odds

June 23rd, 2009 by Simon

Is it possible, can Andy Murray possible win Wimbledon 2009? If you were to believe the TV advertisements that are currently running on UK TV just now, then the short answer is yes! Hype is a great tool and the ad people are on full swing at the moment promoting Andy Murray as the next British Wimbledon champion in waiting. If you think the coverage of Murray on UK media is bad at the moment, wait until he progresses deeper into the tournament. Then the real pressure will kick in, just ask poor Tim Henman how that feels.

Murray is of course made from different stuff from Henman, for one he is more aggresive on the surface, something which might have served Henman better in his playing days. Many Wimbledon 2009 betting punters have already placed a few quid on Andy Murray becoming the first British men’s singles winner since Fred Perry last won the grass championship 73 years ago.

It bodes well, for Murray’s chances, that Rafal Nadal, the World’s number one seed, pulled out of Wimbledon from injury, however, there is a certain Roger Federer playing some great tennis right now with Novak Djokovic and Andy Roddick with serious ambitions of lifting the silverware. We’ll leave the final words about Andy Murray chances of winning Wimbledon to the man himself, “You can either deal with that stuff or you can’t … I don’t get caught up in the whole hype thing … not letting yourself get distracted is the most important thing. I think I’ve got the right people around me to stop me from doing that.”
