Rugby League World Cup 2008

October 28th, 2008 by Simon

This Sunday sees The Group A meeting between England and Australia in the Rugby League World Cup. It is very likely just a dress rehearsal for the final unless something drastic was to happen to either of the two competing countries. No doubt both will be battered and bruised from their encounters with New Zealand and Papa New Guinea along the way, but should ease through the group qualifying none-the-less.

Australia have commented that they will ‘raise the bar’, during this World Cup, to drive home the message that they want to be seen as an untouchable force during the Rugby League World Cup betting. When you hear those type of sound-bytes coming from the Australian camp, you tend to think that they will be out to quash England this Sunday. England on-the-other hand have been coy about this match. Preferring to play down it’s importance after their rather nervous win over Papa New Guinea.

Of the other contenders, France and probably Samoa, should be Semi-Finalists. It all bides well for an interesting tournament. And this Sunday’s encounter between England vs Australia has all the makings of a great Rugby League World Cup game.
