Sacked Scolari in the Special Ones Shadow
The ruthless sacking of Luiz Felipe Scolari, yesterday by Chelsea, smacks of a club unprepared to settle for top 4 finishes in the Premiership and the odd cup win here-and-there. But it also shows another side, that Chelsea still are not over the split between themselves and the ‘Special One’ : Jose Mourinho. The sacking of Scolari may meet with the approval of those Chelsea legions who pack into Stamford Bridge each match day. Dissapointed by the decline in home form and an overall lack of self-belief by the players seen shouts for Scolari to go. And go he did, forced from his job, 7 months in, Chelsea gave Scolari the old, ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ routine.
Can Chelsea Ever Get Over Mourinho
Many will question the sacking of Scolari, perhaps they should look at the appointment of Scolari in the first place. Yes! He was experienced. Yes! He was a big name in the football world. Yes! He was a World Cup winning manager with Brazil. But this is the sharp end of football. Managing an English Premiership team is a completely different ball game from International management. When you also throw into the mix that the club your managing is Chelsea with the ghost of Mourinho hanging over Stamford Bridge, then you better be prepared to fight. Perhaps, Big Phil Scolari, found it impossible to fight the memory of Mourinho.
What now for Chelsea? Which route do they choose. Replace Scolari with Hiddink, another international manager, who has never been tested at Premiership level? Give the fans what they want and put in place Zola … his West Ham record ain’t that jaw-dropping but at least he is a character that could certainly make Chelsea forget about Mourinho, for awhile anyway. Moyes of Everton? O’Neil of Villa? Both good managers but getting them in place now is probably not going to happen.
If I were Chelsea I would go after only one man and yes he is an international football manager but he is young enough to whip that cloak off and get down to fight for his name to be heard and finally expel the ghost of Mourinho … Slaven Bilic! We will soon see who Chelsea begins to court soon enough and as usual you can get our honest and forthright view on proceedings here at Free Betting Online Blog.
