St. Leger Betting Preview 2010

September 8th, 2010 by Paul

Doncaster is the focus of the horse racing betting world over the next few days as the oldest British Classic Races takes place – it can only be the St. Leger betting stakes.

1 mile, 6 furlongs and 132 yards must be conquered before the St. Leger winner can claim an estimated £300,000 prize.

Early favourite in the St. Leger betting is Rewilding, cemented at 6/4 by Ladbrokes, the 3 year old colt is trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni. Rewilding came third in the Derby and won the Great Voltigeur impressively.

After Rewilding, we have a tight pack of 5 horses all around the 7/1 mark. These include Midas Touch, Dandino, Arctic Cosmos, Joshua Tree and Snow Fairy.

Snow Fairy catches my eye. This 3 year old filly, owned by Cristina Patino, looks most comfotable in good to soft ground conditions. Keep a close eye on the weather in the build-up to Saturday’s big St. Leger race because the more wet stuff that gets dumped from the skies around Doncaster then the less-likely Snow Fairy has of truimphing.

Midas Touch is another from the pack of 5 who has ran consistently this season. He finished 2nd in the Irish Derby and behind rewilding in the Great Voltigeur Stakes.
