Blue Sea Cracker Profile

Bluesea Cracker is a horse that not many people will have heard about before the Grand National. This nine-year-old Bay Mare is one of the classic Grand National long shots.

Bluesea Cracker has a relatively similar career history to a lot of other horses around the same age. The major difference with this horse is that the animal seems extremely comfortable racing over massive distances.

Career of Bluesea Cracker

The career of Bluesea Cracker started on December 27 2006 over 16 furlongs at Limerick. Bluesea Cracker finished second in the race by three lengths. This first race was quickly followed by another over 19 furlongs at Naas in January 2007.

The second race in the career of Bluesea Cracker did not produce as impressive a finish. The horse was held up and was unlucky to be outmuscled in a race that included some strong other horses.

The career of Bluesea Cracker did not really take off until March 22 2007 when the Bay Mare won over 18 furlongs at Clonmel. Bluesea Cracker was tucked in behind the leader and left the rest of the field trailing with a win by a length.

Form of Bluesea Cracker

The form of Bluesea Cracker in more recent times has been a mixture of positive and disappointing results. The form of any of the Grand National long shots has to be considered because it gives a solid indication of whether a horse can challenge the favourites.

Bluesea Cracker has a first and a second place in the last five races for the horse. This first place came over 29 furlongs at Fairyhouse which shows Bluesea Cracker has become comfortable racing over long distances.

J Motherway

J Motherway has been the trainer of this horse from the first career race of Bluesea Cracker to the last. J Motherway is an experienced Irish race horse trainer who seems to have been developing a number of different ways to race this horse.

One of Bluesea Cracker's biggest strengths is the fact the horse does not have to rely on a good start and has a history of challenging from every position. J Motherway has to be praised for this and because the trainer has never let the horse move on, this shows a good relationship between the pair.

Bluesea Cracker Races in 2011

Bluesea Cracker races in 2011 form a very small list because there has only been one race over 25 furlongs in mid-February. Bluesea Cracker finished sixth out of nine in this race at Fairyhouse. The worrying fact about this result is that the race included other horses due to take part in the Grand National.

However, there are positives about there only being one Bluesea Cracker race in 2011. The nine-year-old is young compared to some horses in the field and should be in top condition ahead of this race. J Motherway knows the best results for this horse have come when a solid rest has been allowed between races.
