Bobs Worth
Bobs Worth is one of the most successful horses currently under the control of respected National Hunt trainer Nicky Henderson. This six-year-old Bay Gelding is one of the most exciting horses currently racing with four wins and a second from five races.
Bobs Worth has been given the genes for success as the horse is the foal of Bob Back (USA) and Fashionista (Ireland) both successful race horses. The career of Bobs Worth is not a long story but it has been an exciting one to date.
Career of Bobs Worth
The career of Bobs Worth started in February 2010 over 16 furlongs at Kempton. Barry Geraghty rode the then five-year-old to the worst finish in the horse's history, second.
The first race in the career of Bobs Worth displayed a number of strengths the horse possessed. The distance of the race didn't seem to be a factor and Bobs Worth was tucked in behind the 6/4 favourite that ultimately went on to win by two lengths.
Two more races followed over the same distance and at the same racecourse in April and November 2010. Both races produced wins and gave Bobs Worth valuable experience. Both of these races confirmed that Bobs Worth is a horse that likes to get on the front foot and control the pace of a race.
The Style of Bobs Worth
The style of Bobs Worth has been kept virtually the same by Henderson throughout the career of the horse. Bobs Worth likes to get right to the front of a field and be involved in setting the pace for a race.
The Style of Bobs Worth seems to be a little bit better when the horse can see other horses in front. This seems to spur Bobs Worth on and encourages the horse to keep up. Bobs Worth has a solid stamina so a high pace at the start of a 16 furlong trip doesn't seem to be a problem.
The Characteristics of Bobs Worth
The characteristics of Bobs Worth are all positive and compliment the way Henderson has trained the horse and Geraghty has ridden the horse. Bobs Worth knows when it is time for a big race because the animal jumps around and looks lively with an almost childish enthusiasm.
It's extremely encouraging for owner, trainer and jockey that the best out of all characteristics of Bobs Worth is that the horse seems to genuinely enjoy racing and thrives upon competition.
Bobs Worth's Form in 2011
The horse has been prepared well and Bobs Worth’s form in 2011 has so far been perfect. The horse has raced in two races at Cheltenham over 20 furlongs and both races have produced wins.
The first race on New Year’s Day was a win by just over two lengths following a bad start and some dodgy early jumps. The second race at the end of January confirmed that Bobs Worth's form in 2011 was fantastic as the horse adopted a familiar leading position and won by three lengths.
