Championship Football Betting 2011-2012
The Championship is one of the most watched leagues in Europe and the most popular second division of football on the continent. The prizes and riches for being promoted from the Championship have never been greater with the Premier League a now lucrative and special promised land.
Championship football betting 2011-2012 is going to be an extremely interesting betting market because a number of sides could contend for the title and push all the way through the league campaign.
Championship Football Favourites
There are a few clubs that will consider themselves as the Championship football favourites to be promoted by the end of the season. West Ham are probably the biggest club out of all the Championship football favourites.
West Ham will be well placed on the football betting market for most of the season because they have just come down from the Premier League and have one of the largest sets of supporters in England.
Leicester will also be one of the Championship football favourites because they have made no secret over their splashing of the proverbial cash in order to secure some good players and success. Leicester are going to be under pressure but they have a Premier League setup which would allow them to make the transition.
Championship Football Play-Offs
There are a few clubs that could contend in the Championship football play-offs. These clubs will all have good squads but may struggle to find the consistency needed over the course of the season to push for the title.
Birmingham and Reading may both be forced to settle for a play-off spot. Both have been in the Premier League before but Birmingham have just been relegated and have lost their manager. Reading can no loner splash the cash that they once could and their squad has also changed dramatically over the last couple of years.
Blackpool could be a contender in the Championship football play-offs. The Tangerines have done very well not to lose their manager to a higher profile side and the majority of the squad has stayed together. Blackpool got themselves into the Premier League through the play-offs and have to be worth a bet to do so again.
Championship Relegation Favourites
The drop down from the Championship to League One can have a much more damaging effect than the drop down from the Premier League to the Championship or League One to League Two. Any Championship relegation favourites have to work very hard at the start of the season to compensate for inevitable losses which will come later in the campaign.
Some Championship standard teams were forced to play a few seasons in League One after relegation. The classic examples of this are Leeds United and Southampton. Barnsley and Doncaster are currently ranked as equally likely to be relegated from the Championship.
Crystal Palace are also one of the Championship relegation favourites after struggling for the last couple of seasons. Palace need to get some early wins on the board because this will allow them to be mid-table when the business end of the season kicks in.
