Dancing On Ice Betting 2009
Ray Quinn is crowned Dancing On Ice Champion
Dancing on Ice has returned for a fourth series and is now well under way with four celebrities already consigned to the rubbish heap. This hugely popular TV reality show regularly attracts more than ten million viewers and follows a format which is almost identical to Strictly Come Dancing. Thirteen celebrities have been paired with professional skaters and each tries to impress the judges with a virtuoso performance every Sunday evening. After the judges have given their scores and the public have voted, the bottom two on the ‘Leaderboard’ have to run through their routine again later in the evening in an effort to persuade the judges to let them stay. The one with the lowest vote is eliminated from the show.

The Celebrities Cutting Some Ice
It’s a sign of its success that the show is able to attract genuine celebrities and this series is no exception. Gracing our screens this year are Graeme Le Saux, Ellery Hanley, Coleen Nolan, Todd Carty, Melinda Messenger, Michael Underwood, Jessica Taylor, Ray Quinn, Donal MacIntyre, Zoe Salmon, Gemma Bissix, Jeremy Edwards and Roxanne Pallet. So far Graeme, Gemma, Jeremy and Michael have been eliminated leaving nine contestants still in the battle to be king or queen of the blades.
Runaway favourite is Ray at 1/2, an all-rounder who’s been in Emmerdale, on-stage in Grease and was runner-up to third series, X Factor winner, Leona Lewis. He is widely regarded as the dead cert with Jessica, ex-Liberty X member and wife of Kevin Petersen at 9/2. Miss Northern Ireland 1999 and ex-Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon comes in at 8/1 and then Todd, of Grange Hill and EastEnders fame as a16/1 chance.
The show is led by Torville and Dean of Olympic Gold fame and they present a routine at the beginning each week. Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby present while a group of five of the usual outrageous and rude judges preside over the scores. And by the way, Holly Willoughby is NOT a contestant despite her self-promotion and outrageous frocks, a particularly revealing one of which received five complaints in the last series.
The lovely Melinda Messenger, much worshipped by the tabloids, is getting vast press coverage but her skating skills, alas, have failed her and pushed her odds out to 40/1. Star of Rugby League, Ellery Hanley, can’t manage better than 40/1 either, despite the leg muscles. And Emmerdale and Soapstar Superstar's Roxanne Pallett has been unable to convert her considerable appeal to the ice rink with only a 25/1 chance to her name. The show is gathering momentum now and the latest episode has achieved the highest viewing figures so far. It’s going to get bigger and bigger from here so why not jump aboard and start flexing those ice skating judgement skills you know you’ve got. Anything can still happen with the British public in charge and it’s up to you to show you can outguess the best of them.
