England v Bangladesh Cricket Betting 2010
The traditionalists will be happy for the furores of the Twenty20 game to take a back seat, for a few months at least, as England take on Bangladesh in the opening Test series of the summer. The two test series will begin on Thursday May 27 at Lords with the second test commencing the following Friday June 4 at Old Trafford.
Andrew Strauss will return as captain for this series, and the remainder of the summer, after he sat out the recent tour of Bangladesh where he was replaced by Alastair Cook. Cook did an amicable job in leading the team to a 3-0 ODI victory and 2-0 Test series win and will surely have a few words of advice for his returning captain.
England 1-0 Bangladesh

England recorded a comfortable if not emphatic win in the opening test of the summer to take a 1-0 lead over Bangladesh in the two match series. A double-century from Jonathan Trott had put the hosts in a commanding position and then when Steven Finn and James Anderson took four wickets each to help bowl out Bangladesh for 282, the result looked inevitable.
But a brilliant 103 from Tamim Iqbal and a third wicket stand of 100 meant that England were left with plenty of work to do going in to the final day and half’s play. But Finn’s five second innings wickets and Andrew Strauss’s quick fire 82 meant that victory was wrapped up with a session to spare. Now England hold an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series and will look to wrap up the series with a victory at Old Trafford later this week.

There are few places up for grabs in the England test set-up at present. Michael Carberry replaced the rested Strauss in the first test against Bangladesh in the winter but did little to put a case forward for him to be considered when the England selectors are picking from a fully fit squad. Ian Bell’s first innings century in Mirpur when batting at number five should secure his position in the side for a little longer at least, whether he remains at five or drops to six upon the return of Strauss is another matter.
With the ball Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad and Anderson are all in certainties to be on the team sheet then it is a case of finding the right balance between Tim Bresnan, Ryan Sidebottom and another spinner. James Tredwell did his chances no harm with some economical figures in Dhaka and will certainly be toward the forefront of the selectors’ minds should they decide to opt for two spinners in either Test match.
