Eurovision Betting 2010

The Eurovision travelling circus stops off in Oslo, Norway in 2010 with proceedings kicking off on May 25th with the first semi-final, May 27th for the second semi-final and May 29th for the grand final. Oslo follows in the steps of recent hosts Belgrade and Moscow and plays host to 39 competing nations who will battle it out for the right to be named Eurovision 2010 winner. Norway earned the right to host the event after Alexander Rybak’s win at the 2009 event with his song ‘Fairytale’. This will be the third time that they have hosted the contest, having won the event in 1985 and 1995 and hosted the following year.

Although any talk of the Eurovision song contest on British shores is usually met with moans and groans, it does still hold a prestigious place in the calendar of many European countries and Eurovision Betting 2010 promises to be rife across the continent.

For many, the retirement of Terry Wogan from presenting the awards on UK TV, was the final nail in the coffin for what was becoming more of a political competition than a talent driven one. Yet remarkably after years of being shunned by voters across Europe the United Kingdom representative, newest Sugababe member Jade Ewen, achieved fifth place in the 2009 event.

UK Eurovision Betting 2010

After last year’s relative success, when the song was written by famous composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, the BBC have opted for another successful and renowned songwriter for this year’s entry. The UK Eurovision 2010 song will be written by former Pop Idol and Pop Star the Rivals judge, Pete Waterman. Waterman is a member of the famous recording trio Stock Aitken Waterman who have created 22 UK number ones including hits for Kylie Minogue, Steps and Westlife.

Despite being one of the ‘Big Four’ (no, not Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United) meaning the UK have automatic entry into the final, the bookmakers don’t seem to have much faith in Waterman’s chances of overturning Europe’s recent distaste toward the Union Jack. The Eurovision Betting 2010 had United Kingdom as 25/1 shots before even having heard the song or knowing who the artist will be.

Josh Dubovie is UK Eurovision 2010 Entry

19-year-old Josh Dubovie from Essex has won the public vote on BBC’s Your Country Needs You and will now represent the United Kingdom at the 2010 Eurovision song contest. Six acts – two groups, two female artists and two male artists – had competed for the right to sing the Pete Waterman penned song at this May’s finals in Oslo before Dubovie was declared the winner courtesy of a public voting system. He will sing the semi-catchy “That Sounds Good To Me” in an attempt to restore some pride for the UK on the Eurovision stage.

However, the bookmakers obviously aren’t too impressed with the outcome and some are offering odds of as big as 200/1 on the UK’s Eurovision Betting 2010 chances and 50/1 on Josh achieving a top 4 finish.

Ireland Eurovision Betting 2010

Speculation is rife in Ireland over who will be their 2010 Eurovision entry. Rumours have been circulating that X-Factor ‘stars’ John and Edward could represent the Irish in this year’s event whilst Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle is also featured on the shortlist of possible entrants. Yet the Irish don’t have a lot of faith in their representative even making it to the final, Irish bookmaker Boylesports suggest that there is only a 50/50 chance of them qualifying past the semi-finals and have ‘Ireland not to qualify for the 2010 final’ at Evens in their Eurovision Betting 2010. Other odds currently on offer are 12/1 for Johnny Logan to represent Ireland and 66/1 for 1992 Eurovision winner Linda Martin to make a comeback to the competition.
