Eurovision Betting 2007

The Eurovision Song Contest has become an institution to all of Europe, having been around since 1956 and never missing a year, it has become the longest running television program ever!

It has given some bands the stepping stone to musical stardom, not least Abba back in 1974 with their victory song - Waterloo - They became their home countries, biggest export, even better than the car plant, Volvo!

This year's Final of the Eurovision Song Contest  takes place in Helsinki, Finland on Saturday 12th May at the Hartwell Arena, thanks to the winners of last year's competition, "Lordi".  This was Finland?s first ever win at the contest.

Georgia and the Czech Republic will be joining forty other countries for the first time

This year bringing the total number of nations taking part to forty two.

United Kingdom Interest

Justin Hawkins former front man of the glam rock band Darkness will be one of six acts competing to represent the United Kingdom at this year's contest. Apparently he had a dream that he should do It! He will join up with singer Beverlei Brown to make a duo. I am certain there will be alot of betting interest if they should reach the final.

Other well known artists taking part in Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up, is Brian Harvey formally of East 17 and Atomic Kitten's Liz McClarnon.

Sandy Shaw already a credited singer so a sure bet took part and won the Eurovision back in 1967 and Cliff Richard sung twice at the competition, never winning but coming close with a second place, losing by just one point to Spain with the song, Congratulations at the 1968 contest and later at the 1973 competition he came third with the song Power To All Our Friends.
