Grand National Betting 2010
No sooner have we turned the pages on our new 2010 calendar to the 1st of January, than the Horse racing world (and therein the Grand National betting 2010 community) begins to get excited and sense the imminent buzz surrounding the upcoming John Smith's Grand National.
Upcoming three months hence obviously, with early April as ever seeing in the greatest steeplechase meet on the planet. Naturally, the new year is tantamount to last minute preparations for the Aintree course's owners and operators, because as you'd expect, the Aintree course would have been bracing itself for one of the most highly anticipated horse racing spectacles ever since the last race was completed in the 2009 Grand National meet, which effectively brought the globally-covered festival to an end.
The behind-the-scenes work to prepare to host such an epic sporting event is no small undertaking, as a team of dedicated professionals work tirelessly from one year to another organising the four day horse racing extravaganza, knowing that the eyes and ears of the horse racing world will be firmly focused on this famous part of Liverpool for the duration of the historic annual meet. Not to mention acknowledging that Grand National betting 2010 fever will have been cranked up to the max for a good few months in advance of the big race too, and generating its own far-reaching, high profile publicity for the 4 mile, 4 furlong steeplechase, universally regarded as the World's best.
Madison du Berlais Heads Six-Day Declarations
05/04/2010
65 entries remain for the John Smith’s Grand National at the six-day declaration stage. Madison du Berlais heads the list of which only the top 40 runners will line-up under starter’s orders on Saturday at Aintree, which means that of the current list 25 will miss out.
10 horses have pulled out including Razor Royale, Notre Pere and Equus Maximus and have been replaced in the top 40 by, amongst others, The Package and Hello Bud. Big Fella Thanks remains the Grand National Betting 2010 favourite with last year’s winner Mon Mome the second favourite.

Big Fella, Thanks
08/03/2010
Those holding an ante-post Grand National Betting 2010 slip with the name Big Fella Thanks inscribed on it were left with big smiles emblazoned across their faces as the horse claimed victory at Newbury this weekend. In doing so the Harry Findlay owned horse was cut into join-favouritism and is as short as 8/1 with Paddy Power and Stan James with the majority of firms going 10/1. Paul Nicholls has sent out 44 losers for horse racing’s most famous race but his horses now dominate the head of the betting for the 2010 Grand National.
The horse has been matched at a high of 48.0 on Betfair and was available at around 20/1 when the weights were announced a couple of weeks back, but now at single figure odds there will be a few who decide to look elsewhere for a bigger priced return on the big race.
Grand National Weights Announced
17/02/2010
Alberta’s Run, Madison du Berlais and Notre Pere top the recently released weights for the 2010 John Smith’s Grand National and will all carry 11st 10lb upon their backs. The Paul Nicholls trained Taranis is next in the weights at 11st 9lb whilst last year’s winner Mon Mome will need to shoulder around 11st 7lb (7lb more than last year) if he is to make it two in a row. The two market leaders in the Grand National Betting 2010, Tricky Trickster and Niche Market, have been handed 11st 4lb and the 2008 winner Comply or Die has a handy 11st 5lb to carry.
War of Attrition is the most notable absentee following the British Horseracing Authority head handicapper Phil Smith’s release of the weights. And although it was already widely expected, Denman was also pulled out by trainer Nicholls before the weights were released. Smith commented on this being the highest standard of Grand National that he has ever been involved in and if all goes accordingly we could be in for yet another drama packed Grand National.
Not so Tricky
15/02/2010
Tricky Trickster recorded an unlikely victory in the Aon Chase and in doing so has now been installed as the 10/1 favourite in the Grand National Betting 2010. Ruby Walsh was aboard the Paul Nicholls trained horse and looked well beaten in third place before Denman blundered through two fences and unseated his rider. That seemed to galvanise Ruby and the horse and they stayed on sublimely well to get up by a short head and beat Niche Market to victory who has also been trimmed into 14/1 and is the second favourite in the Grand National Betting 2010.
Grand National Betting 2010 Addresses The Needs Of Every Type Of Horse Racing Betting Fan
The Grand National itself sits as the unchallenged highlight of the Grand National Aintree Festival, a race that's primarily responsible for arguably the biggest day of the year for the online sports betting industry as a whole. Aside from the legions of committed everyday horse racing Betting fans who spend considerable proportions of their lives - and even more considerable chunks of their disposable income - on following the 'sport of kings', there is of course a million or so more of us who use this one fleeting moment of the year to silence our inner critics and splurge many millions on a romantically-inspired winner.
Colloquially referred to as the housewives' choice, choosing the winner, each way horse and rider or placed bet once a year generates some serious thought processes in the minds (but more universally-speaking, the hearts) of those that excuse their quasi-religious/moral stance but every April to indulge in something hugely exciting. Up and down the country, from homes and offices, to warehouses and factories, men and women allow themselves this one sports betting treat, safe in the knowledge that they're not alone, neither feeding a addictive frenzy.
Early Favourites And Potential Runners That Will Forge Grand National Betting 2010 Winning Predictions
So, we now turn our attention and start looking ahead to the big race, and more specifically scrutinising the potential runners, riders, trainers and yards set to turn out for the 2010 Grand National, that will be officially under starters' order as of 4.15pm on Saturday 10th April 2010.
The early, and at this stage we clearly mean early, favourites to win the event include Denman, the Paul Nicholls former Gold Cup winner, the Gordon Elliot-trained Backstage, Character Building and the 2008 Grand National winner, Comply Or Die, alongside a host of familiar names from previous Grand National outings in recent years still looking to make the breakthrough or recreate the magic one more time of asking. Like Black Apalachi, who took a tumble in both 2008 and 2009's corresponding race, Snowy Morning (third in 2008, 9th last time out) and State Of Play, who'll be looking to improve on his fourth place finish last year, and - reminding ourselves of the 2009 Grand National - the winner that day, 100- 1 outsider Mon Mome, who'll be going for back-to-back victories over the notorious testing Aintree jumps in April 2010.
Elsewhere listed in the early field is the winner of Cheltenham's National Hunt Chase, Tricky Trickster, the JP McManus-trained Garde Champetre who's being performing impressively in cross-country races, Welsh National winner Notre Pere, Irish National winner Niche Market, second-placed 2008 Grand National mount, King Johns Castle and 2007 Grand National winner Silver Birch making a comeback after injury prevented his appareance in last year's race. Of particular interest is the inclusion of Irish Raptor - trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies - who won over the Aintree fences in the John Smith's Topham Chase by two and a quarter lengths at the 2009 Grand National meet, and is considered ready for the step up in 2010. Ex-Gold Cup winner, War Of Attrition, trained by Mouse Morris is another one of the fancied Irish contingent that comprise the early field for 2010, which reminds us of a surprise fact thrown up after last year's meet. Evidently there wasn't a single Irish horse in the first seven mounts coming home in the 2010 Grand National. Quite the turn-up for the books as looking back over the previous three years and in 2006 the Irish representatives covered first, second and fourth place, whilst again in 2007 rides from the Emerald Isle finished both first and fourth in the reckoning. Again, in 2008, Irish horses filled the places numbered second, third and fourth.
