Oscar Time Profile

Oscar Time is a ten-year-old Bay Gelding under the control of MM Lynch which is now a leading contender for the Grand National. Oscar Time has been a consistent performer in jump racing throughout the career of the horse.

The statistics for Oscar Time are positive and productive and show that the horse can run well on different racecourses, in different conditions and in different qualities of field.

Statistics for Oscar Time

The statistics for Oscar Time form very good reading. The horse has four wins, ten second places and six third place finishes from a total of 28 races. This means Oscar Time has failed to place in only eight career races.

The statistics for Oscar Time are more impressive when considering that they span a five year period. The debut of Oscar Time came in October 2006 and the last race for the horse was earlier this year. This shows Oscar Time has good consistency.

Debut of Oscar Time

The debut of Oscar Time came on October 2 2006 over 16 furlongs at Roscommon. Oscar Time was still a very raw horse at that stage and jockey Robbie McNamara simply sat the horse in to see if there was a response at the end.

The debut of Oscar Time produced a fourth place finish and allowed Lynch to learn a great deal about his horse. Oscar Time finished behind two of the favourites for the race and a 20/1 shot that produced a superb performance.

Oscar Time's First Win

Oscar Time's first win did not arrive until early 2008. The horse was entered in an 18 furlong race at Thurles on January 3 and beat a field of 17 to win by a neck. Oscar Time's first win produced a slightly different racing style to many of the races before.

The first win for Oscar Time saw the horse sat in just behind the leaders. Oscar Time looked comfortable throughout the race and had just enough gas in the tank to stay on when moving forward late in the race.

Style of Oscar Time

The racing style of Oscar Time is that of a horse that seems to enjoy sitting in a pack before challenging late on. Oscar Time doesn't have enough power to come right from the rear of a field which means the horse has to be somewhere towards the front where the pace of the race is controlled.

The style of Oscar Time is also quite an aggressive one because the horse does not seem afraid to be bullish in and around other horses. This can back fire but Lynch has done well to get the experience of Barry Geraghty and Ruby Walsh on the horse for important races in order to keep the animal calm.

Recent Form of Oscar Time

The recent form of Oscar Time has not been magnificent. The horse has raced only once in 2011 which produced a third place finish over 25 furlongs at Fairyhouse. The five races before this produced one win, two seconds, a fifth and a sixth place finish.
