Premier League Darts Betting 2012

The 2012 Premier League of Darts is the eighth annual staging of the PDC tournament that travels up, down and across the country taking in arenas from Wembley to Glasgow’s S.E.C.C between 9 February 2012 and 17 May 2012.

Gary Anderson will defend the Premier League title that he won by beating Adrian Lewis in the 2011 final, a triumph that was the Scot’s first, and to this point only, major title on the PDC circuit. In this year’s tournament he will be up against five of the players he defeated to win the title, plus two Premier League debutants.

Phil Taylor, James Wade and Adrian Lewis join Anderson as the top four ranked players who received an automatic invitation to the 2012 Premier League. They are joined in the Premier League darts betting 2012 market by Simon Whitlock and Raymond van Barneveld, who received invites from Sky Sports, and Players Championship Finals winner Kevin Painter and World Championship runner-up Andy Hamilton who accepted their invites from the PDC.

Premier League Darts 2012 Format

In line with last year’s tournament the 2012 Premier League will see all players face each other twice over a series of 14 nights that make up the group stages of the competition. Each match will be played over a best-of-16 format with the winner being decided when either player wins 8 legs; a 7-7 draw is also a possible outcome.

The winner of each fixture is awarded two points, while a draw sees both players pick up a point. No points are awarded to the loser. At the end of the group stages the top four players progress to the semi-finals where the player who tops the group will play the fourth placed player and those finishing second and third will also do battle.

The semis and final take place on finals day the week following the conclusion of the group. Semis are played over a best-of-15-legs format and the final is a best-of-19 affair.

The Premier League kicks off on February 9 at the Manchester M.E.N. Arena before taking in venues in Aberdeen, Belfast, Exeter, Brighton, Glasgow, Dublin, Cardiff, Nottingham, Sheffield, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Birmingham and Newcastle. The final is then held at the O2 Arena in London on May 17.

Premier League 2012 Betting Markets

Premier League darts betting 2012 differs quite significantly from any other form of Darts Betting. This is because in the Premier League the draw is a runner. In any other darts tournament punters are asked to pick a winner in the Match Odds betting markets, here they must contemplate the possibility of the match ending in a 7-7 draw.

As well as the Match Odds betting market bettors also have the opportunity to bet on the Correct Score, Total 180s, Highest Checkout, Most 180s and many more Premier League darts betting 2012 markets.

The outright markets are also numerous as punters can bet on the overall winner, the Premier League group stage winner, the top-four qualifiers and the player that will finish bottom of the group table.
