Premier League Winner Betting 2009-10
At the start of every Barclays Premier League season the bookmakers have their say on who will lift the Premier League trophy nine months henceforth. Only four teams have been successful in their quest so far; Arsenal, Blackburn, Chelsea and Manchester United and in recent years the realistic online betting odds have been restricted to the ‘Big Four’, and with good reason. However, the new found wealth of Manchester City has threatened to throw a cat amongst the pigeons and the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham are now threatening to pose a greater danger in coming years than they previously had.
Stamford Bridge Prepares To Party
03/05/2010
A 2-0 win for Chelsea over Liverpool means that the Premier League trophy looks to be heading back to west London after a three year residence at Old Trafford. Manchester United kept their hopes alive with a win over Sunderland subsequent to the conclusion of the game at Anfield, but now need Wigan to take something from their game against Chelsea on the final day of the season.
A win or a draw for The Latics would open the door for United to claim a fourth consecutive Premier League Winners title by beating Stoke at Old Trafford. But Chelsea’s home record of 16 wins, one draw and one loss suggests that United and Wigan could be fighting a losing battle.
Chelsea Hit Seventh Heaven
26/04/2010
Chelsea scored seven goals in a Premier League game for the third time this season to power their way back to the summit of English football. Manchester United had taken over top-spot with a win against Tottenham in Saturday’s early kick-off meaning the onus was put on Chelsea to go out and get a result. They did so in a hugely impressive manner and cemented their position as favourites in the Premier League winner betting.
Two points separate the top two with two games remaining, which of the two will take the title?
More Twists And Turns
19/04/2010
Just when Chelsea looked as if they had the title sewn up we get another dramatic weekend of Premier League action to blow things wide open once more. A last minute winner from Paul Scholes at Eastlands meant that Manchester United moved to within a point of Chelsea with the leaders still to play later in the day. But Carlo Ancelotti’s men were clearly feeling the heat as they then slipped to a 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane and allowed United to get their foot in the door once more.
Arsenal couldn’t capitalise on the lifeline that they had been thrown after surrendering a 2-0 lead, with only 10 minutes remaining, to lose 3-2 at Wigan. They have now been shunted in the Premier League Winner Betting 2009-10 to odds of around 200/1, Chelsea’s one point cushion means they retain favouritism but bow at odds of 8/13.
Kicks From D Rose
15/04/2010
A wonder strike from teenager Danny Rose on his league debut all but condemned Arsenal’s 2009-2010 Premier League title challenge. Tottenham went 1-0 up against the run of play through the youngster early in the first half then doubled their lead just after the break. As expected, Arsenal had most of the possession but never looked like scoring until Robin van Persie made his return from the substitute’s bench with 25 minutes remaining. But the Dutchman’s introduction wasn’t enough to secure the three points that The Gunners needed and they are now six points behind leaders Chelsea with just four games to play.
Chelsea Edge Closer
14/04/2010
Despite a couple of legitimate penalty claims from Bolton Chelsea secured a 1-0 victory which moved them four points clear at the top with a quartet of games remaining. Nicolas Anelka converted a Didier Drogba cross late in the first half to put the league leaders ahead and despite some nervy moments towards the end they managed to hang on to the slenderest of leads.
As a result their odds in the Premier League Winner Betting on ending Manchester United’s three year reign as champions shortened once again. Can they keep their focus and see out the job at hand? Away fixtures against Liverpool and Tottenham could hold the key.
It’s All Yours Mr Ancelotti
12/04/2010
Chelsea moved to clear favouritism in the outright Premier League betting market without kicking a ball in anger. After beating Aston Villa in their FA Cup semi-final on Saturday the Chelsea players will have enjoyed putting their feet up with a glass of orange juice and watching Blackburn hold Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Ewood Park on Sunday.
The result means that United remain a point behind Chelsea and two above Arsenal but have played one game more than both. With games against Bolton (H), Tottenham (A), Stoke (H), Liverpool (A) and Wigan (H) remaining the title is now Chelsea’s to lose.
Advantage Ancelotti
05/04/2010
Despite a controversial offside decision being a potentially major turning point of the match and Premier League season, Chelsea recorded a deserved 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday and moved two points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Arsenal also kept their title aspirations alive with a 94th minute winner against Wolves on Saturday and now three points separate all three sides at the summit with just five games left to play.
Can Chelsea hang on to that lead? Or will either Arsenal or United bridge the gap? There are still some massive games to be played between now and the end of the season and you can be certain that there are a number of twists and turns to come.
Big Wins Ahead Of Big Clash
29/03/2010
Both Manchester United and Chelsea recorded emphatic wins this weekend ahead of their crunch match this coming Saturday. One point separates the sides with United holding the slight edge in both the standings and the Premier League Winner Betting 2009-10 where they are generally available at 4/5 with the bookmakers. Arsenal have been written off by many before but their draw against Birmingham at the weekend has left them four points off the top with an inferior goal difference and the bookmakers reacted by pushing them out to 5/1 in the betting.
United Go Top As Chelsea Slip To Third
22/03/2010
Carlo Ancelotti’s nightmare week continued as a second-half El Hadji-Diouf header meant that Chelsea could only take one point from their weekend fixture against Blackburn. Manchester United and Arsenal had previously taken all three points against West Ham and Liverpool respectively on a weekend when we have had three different Premier League leaders.
Chelsea do have a game in hand and can go back above Arsenal into second place with a win over Portsmouth on Wednesday but the crucial game remains Saturday 3 April’s clash between Chelsea and Manchester United. If United can take all three points there then you would have to fancy them to go on and take their fourth Premier League title in a row.
Nobody Gives an Inch
15/03/2010
All three of the 2009-2010 Premier League title challengers won their weekend games to keep up the pressure on each other. Chelsea and Manchester United took all three points with relative ease but Arsenal had to rely on a late Nicklas Bendtner strike to get their maximum return from the KC Stadium against Hull. It all means that the Premier League Winner Betting 2009-2010 odds are relatively unchanged this week with the bookies still unable to separate Chelsea and Manchester United and Arsenal snapping at their heels in third place.
United go top
08/03/2010
Manchester United have taken top spot in the Premier League with a narrow win over Wolves at the weekend. United were in danger of dropping points as the game looked like fizzling out into a 0-0 draw, but Paul Scholes’s 100th Premier League goal was enough to secure maximum points and send his side to the top of the Premier League table. The Premier League Betting 2009-10 odds haven’t changed significantly as a result but United have shortened ever so slightly with a few of the online betting firms.
Coming up on the rail...
01/03/2010
After losing a number of lengths down the back straight Arsenal are beginning to finish like a train as both Chelsea and Manchester United make stumbling errors with the finishing line approaching. A first home league defeat of the season for Chelsea and a late penalty from Cesc Fabregas means that there are just three points separating the three clubs at the top and with Chelsea and Manchester United still to play each other Arsene Wenger will really fancy his side’s chances.
Arsenal had drifted out to as big as 30/1 in the Premier League Winner Betting 2009-10 after defeats against their title rivals, but having played all of their biggest games in one hectic January month, they now look the most likely to go unbeaten from now until the end of the season.
January Barclays Premier League Winner Betting 2009-2010
At the half-way stage of the 2009-10 Premier League season there are clear signs that this could be one of the most closely contested title races of recent times. In the space of a single week at the end of January there were three different league leaders, the first time that this has happened at this stage of a Premier League season and an indication of how tight it is at the top. Now the question for Football Betting fans is who will show the greatest consistency and go on to lift the trophy in May. Will it be the flair and flamboyance of Arsenal? Will Chelsea’s workmanlike grit and professionalism shine through? Or can Wayne Rooney inspire Manchester United to a fourth consecutive title?
Title challenge is a three horse race
I think that it is safe to say that the Premier League Winner Betting 2009-10 is now between three teams – Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. A rejuvenated Manchester City under the guidance of new manager Roberto Mancini will retain a modicum of self-belief but at 33/1 their slim chances are reflected in their price tag. The battle is realistically down to the efforts of the three teams who currently occupy the top three spots.
Arsenal were expected to falter without the goals of star striker Robin van Persie who was lost to injury in the middle of November, but since being defeated by Chelsea at the Emirates they have recovered the situation amicably and are now a serious threat to the other two challengers who might have discounted them at one stage. Chelsea remain the bookmakers Premier League Winner Betting 2009-10 favourites and with their strength and depth in numbers it is hard to argue with that assessment, especially having come through the month of January positively without their quartet of African players. Hard to contest unless your name happens to be Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United have themselves coped with a catastrophic list of defensive injuries at various stages throughout their season and have done well just to remain in the hunt. However, it is offensively where they could have issues, Wayne Rooney has stepped into the shoes of Cristiano Ronaldo and become their match winner but the potential problem comes if/when the England striker suffers a dip in form or an injury; no other player has consistently performed to his high standards this season.
This one could go all the way to the wire, but the coming weeks are the most crucial for Arsenal as they face Aston Villa, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool in the space of 15 days. The Gunners have struggled against their title challengers this season and four big games in a row could be a bridge too far Arsene Wenger’s men.
