It’s almost upon us, The Euro 2008 Championship and for the first time in a long time none of the home nations will be represented at one of footballs most spectacular events. Euro 2008 Group A
Czech Republic
	The Czechs won their European qualifying group ahead of Germany and recently had a 3-1 friendly victory against a very weakened Scotland.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Portugal
	One of the favourites to win the competition outright. But with all the transfer talk surrounding Ronaldo will it affect his performances and Portugal’s chances.

Switzerland
	Duo hosts of the competition however even with home support behind them coach Jakob Kuhn is still unsure of his best team selection especially in defence.

Turkey
	Turkey have a great chance of progression from this group but it may all come down to their performance against Switzerland where grudges run deep after the last encounter.

Euro 2008 Group B
Austria
	The other nation hosting the Euros. Not a lot has been written on Austria’s chances to do well . Plenty of young talent available but lack of experience. Could find it hard going.

Croatia
	A team brimming with talent and belief that they can win Euro 2008. Slaven Bilić has the playmakers at his disposal that can thrill crowds and win games.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Germany
	Never write off the Germans and Euro 2008 is no different. Former 3 times winners of the competition and the draw has been kind to them.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Poland
	Poland are going through a resurgent period at the moment however their chances of qualification may be just outwith their current reach.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Euro 2008 Group C
France
	France have the experience but in certain matches during qualification their commitment was called into question. This group will be a real test.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Italy
	The world cup winners found it tough in qualification but again their pedigree may see them through. Classic slow starters but in this group could be their undoing.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Holland
	Holland have been quiet in their build-up to Euro 2008. Have a settled squad and formidable big players in attack. Coach Marco Van Basten will need 100% focus from the players to get through.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Romania
	The draw has not been kind to Romania, although they finished ahead of Holland in the qualifications they’ll need total commitment throughout to qualify.

Euro 2008 Group D
Greece
	The current holders and again darkhorses for this competition. Qualified without any real hiccups and look strong again in defence.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Russia
	Gus Hiddink is a Dutch Master when it comes to managing international teams and getting the best from them. Very attack minded.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Spain
	Always strong in betting before the competition starts yet history has shown that in the competitions they always underachieve. Torress may be the difference.
Chance of qualifying from group:

Sweden
	Not the side they once were, ageing but still expeienced. May have a chance if Larsson and Ljungberg decide to shine. Tactics will dominate their game plan and also their qualification hopes.
