The Ryder Cup 2008 - Crunch Time for Team USA
August 22nd, 2008 by ErskineThe Ryder Cup 2008 is taking place at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, and its sure to be a cracking event. Team USA are trying to stop the rot after seeing Europe lift the trophy on the previous 3 meetings. But, as all Ryder Cup betting fans are aware, it is going to be tough for the Americans with the European players on top of their game right now. However Team USA are in their own backyard this time and its pretty fitting to see that they picked a golf course named after a ‘great hall’ in Norse mythology where the vikings celebrated victory of battle with their gods.

Paul Azinger, Team USA’s Ryder Cup captain, has already selected 8 of his 12 players, leaving the remaining 4 selections until September the 2nd. With Tiger Woods still in recuperation mode from his recent knee surgery leaving him out of automatic selection here is the team of 8 in Team USA so far :
- Phil Mickelson
- Stewart Cink
- Kenny Perry
- Jim Furyk
- Anthony Kim
- Justin Leonard
- Ben Curtis
- Boo Weekley
Europe Look Too Strong To Be Beaten
Team USA’s lack of confidence is a stark contrast with Nick Faldo’s, Team Europe. He has witnessed the European players brim with confidence this season and as golf betting goes you’d be crazy not to back Team Europe from winning the trophy for a fourth time running. But it’s this record of 4-in-a-row that is sticking in the back-of-the-throats of the Americans. It is not something you hear very often - the USA being underdogs on their home patch – you can bet they will want to rectify this as soon as possible. Which means for the Golf Betting fans that this Ryder Cup is going to be one of the best yet so far.
