Lewis Hamilton is looking for a much needed victory in Sunday’s British Grand Prix. 10 points behind Felipe Massa and five short of Kimi Raikkonen, Hamilton cannot waste any more time in securing places on the podium from now on. Formula 1 betting punters are hoping he can put behind him the disappointments of France and Canada and bring more focus into his driving skills rather than the distractions which seem to have consumed him of late.
He must understand that his opponents are not the officials dishing out the penalty points or the media demanding nothing short of perfection. His opponents are Ferrari and they come in the shape of Kimi Raikkonen, Felipe Massa and that team’s engineers. If Hamilton can exclude all other thoughts from his mind we will again see the brilliance manifested not just last season, but for the first couple of races this season too.
At Silverstone, Hamilton will have the massive support of British fans, as well as online betting fans, and you have only to look to the effect that had in the Murray/Gasquet showdown at Wimbledon last Monday to grasp what a lift this can give. The familiarity of home turf will also help and, with improvements to the McLaren since the last race, Hamilton was a second ahead of Raikkonen on Thursday, he has everything going for him on Sunday in his bid to narrow the gap.

This Sunday will see more than 90,000 Formula 1 betting fans cram into Silverstone to witness one of Britain’s Premier sporting occasions. While there is growing concern over the future of the race being held at Silverstone, thanks mainly to a money dispute between Ernie Ecclestone, boss of F1 and Silverstone’s owners, no-one is betting against this year serving up a real treat to all F1 fans.

After trailing home in tenth place in the French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours, Lewis Hamilton has once again failed to make the podium and the Motor racing betting world notes with dismay that he has now been out of the points for three consecutive races. Starting in tenth place on the grid having been penalised for shunting Riakkonen in Canada, Hamilton was docked another ten points in France for obtaining advantage while overtaking. Denying the charge, Hamilton asserts that he will not be put off his pursuit of the title although he now trails Felipe Masse by ten points in the driver’s standings.
This is not an insurmountable deficit, with ten races still to go, but one that will be only made up by Hamilton stepping back and reflecting on his approach to the next two or three races. Certainly there are tracks coming up that are more suited to the McLaren but Silverstone, where the next race will be held on July 6, is not one of them and Hamilton cannot rely on this alone. He needs to calm things down a bit and refocus on his skill and patience.
Despite Hamilton’s claims of innocence, questions are being asked about his capacity to withstand the pressure he is under to live up to. There are undoubtedly extravagant expectations that have been placed upon him by people who should, perhaps, know better. Formula 1 followers who would have used their French Grand Prix free bets this weekend know that this sport is a massively challenging one and pure skill is not enough to win the battle for driver supremacy. Nerve amidst calm is a condition of mind which can only be nurtured in the fires of experience and Hamilton must be allowed to mature on the track in his own time and not in that of the media.

Sunday marks the onset of the European Formula 1 season and the Barcelona race will reveal for motor racing betting enthusiasts the performance potential of the teams under more normal conditions of temperature and humidity. Lewis Hamilton is obviously keen to get his season back on track and put the errors of Bahrain behind him. Having crashed during the practice sessions, stalled on the grid, rear-ended former team mate, Alonso and come 13th, he will no doubt want to learn from those mistakes and claims he now feels more comfortable in the new car.
Hamilton is happy to be back in Europe where he feels closer to home. The whole team are excited about changes to the car which they feel can give them a bit of an edge over principal rivals, Ferrari. Hamilton’s team mate, Heikki Kovalainen, who has beaten him in the last two races, is someone to watch. Fellow drivers describe him as extremely competitive and perhaps another in-house battle for supremacy may be looming.
The teams have been putting their cars through their paces over the last four days and everyone is keen to see how improvements will affect the strengths of the teams. Ferrari has a new vented nose cone which is intended to improve aerodynamics but seem oddly coy about discussing its merits. They deny reports in the Italian press that it is some sort of secret weapon which will leave their rivals strewn about in their wake.
The Spanish Grand Prix is an important race for Formula 1 Betting betting fans. Traditionally a bit of a boring race, this year more will be revealed here than has been so far in the other three races of the season and nowhere more so than in the closely fought and exciting battle between McLaren and Ferrari.

Melbourne blog Sunday 16 March - What should, at last, be an exciting season in Formula 1 racing opens in Melbourne on Sunday with the rivalry between former team-mates, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, set to explode now that Alonso has departed McLaren for his new home at Renault. Although Hamilton will be driving the more powerful car, Alonso will be relentless in his efforts to pick up points wherever he can.
Formula 1 betting fans will realise though, that Hamilton will be focusing all his attention on the Ferraris of Finnish driver, Kimi Raikkonen and Brazilian, Felipe Masse. Ferrari showed signs of engineering dominance toward the end of last season and it remains to be seen whether McLaren have kept up on the engineering front. Rumours abound that while Ferrari have the edge on the race pace, McLaren will have the speed advantage in qualifying and thus grid position.
Bookies are favouring Raikkonen in the pre-season but there can be no doubt that Hamilton will be very, very hungry for the title after last year’s near miss to the fiery Finn. Raikkonen won the Melbourne race last year and is bookies favourite again this season but Hamilton is genuinely convinced that the McLaren team preparation makes him favourite, at least in his own mind. Certainly observers of the Barcelona pre-season trials noted that Hamilton was a man possessed in getting everything from the car.
It’s going to be a great season with the two way assault on the title from Hamilton and Raikkonen with Alonso snapping at their exhaust pipes. Time to get out there now and take up some of those free bets offers for new customers from the myriad of online betting sites.
