My Epsom Derby Betting dilemma

June 8th, 2008 by FreeBetsmaster

Derby day, Sat 7 June at 4pm and I was sitting here wondering how to pick the winner. Past history told me that it’s not going to be an outsider. Epsom derby betting fans know, only too well, that this is always a race for serious mounts and in any Derby there are at least three or four short-odds horses that can win and only once has a horse longer than 7-1 won. The winning horse needs a good middle draw. Generally avoid those on the edges of the stalls.

Winners of the Dee or Derrinstown Stakes are up there with the prime contenders. Tajaweed won the former and Casual Conquest won the latter. Tajaweed might have a dodgy foot though so I listened out for news on that. Three of the last four Derby winners won the Dante Stakes and Tartan Bearer was this year’s winner with Frozen Fire coming a close second. Curtain Call has been aimed at this race and won his trial at Nottingham with considerable ease. Doctor Fremantle took the Chester Vase last month and accelerated well. Lots of punters rushed to this horse when jockey, Johnny Murtagh chose it as his mount.

If Henrythenavigator was running a lot of people would be putting their money on him. New Approach was second to this horse in both the English and Irish 2000 Guineas and, I thought, wouldn’t be far from the front. Rio De La Plata, ridden by Frankie Dettori, was second in the French 2000 Guineas and Frankie’s been here before and won it.

So, Horse Racing Betting Fans, at time of writing, we now know that New Approach came in first, giving a tough ride by Tartan Bearer. This was a thinker to pick.

Cheltenham Betting, 12th March

March 12th, 2008 by FreeBetsmaster

Cheltenham Festival, 12th March - Around 230,000 racegoers from all parts of the British Isles and further afield have made the pilgrimage to Prestbury Park for the 2008 Cheltenham Festival which began on Tuesday and runs through to its thrilling climax on Friday. During the course of the event, punters will consume 228,000 pints of Guinness and a lake of champagne. They will even be able to wager on the exact amount of Guinness that will be consumed this year, alongside all the other bets available to them.

Meanwhile, enthusiasts of online betting will gather in front of their tellies and consume a lot more than the home crowd. Armed with a laptop and a widescreen they will gather with friends and share the fun and celebration for which this festival is renowned. Online betting sites will surely bulge with the volume of bets made this week.

There’s too much fun to be had in the first three days to dwell too long on it but minds cannot be too far away from the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday. Provided the wind dies down a bit, this will be a once-in-a-decade racing moment when the champion, Kauto Star, is challenged by the fearsome Denman. There is no doubt that Denman will run an impressive race, but he will have to if he hopes to test the mighty Kauto.

Tuesday’s races all went the bookies way. The Champion Hurdle went to Katchit at 16-1 and favourites were no shows in all the other races too. With Wednesday’s racing cancelled due to forecast high winds everyone will be on tenterhooks to see whether the Gold Cup will actually run, meanwhile Cheltenham pubs will be anticipating a deluge of disappointed race-goers with a whole day to fill.

Cheltenham Betting 2008

January 11th, 2008 by FreeBetsmaster

The Cheltenham Festival takes place during 11 – 14 March this year and Cheltenham Betting will soon be upon us and across the nation, well over £500 million will be wagered on the outcome of the 25 races so get your free bets ready. The Festival will attract about 240,000 people over the four days with online betting fans adding to the unique fever generated by this meeting.

The Festival represents the first leg of the Spring Double, the second being the Grand National meeting. While the latter offers a majority of handicap races, the Cheltenham meet features a diverse set of races both with and without handicaps, thus producing a different approach to sports betting tactics.

The Grand National Handicap System poses greater challenges of winner prediction, but longer odds, for followers of online betting, while Cheltenham offers non-handicap races which, although having shorter odds, tend to yield clear favourites.
Online betting enthusiasts will, however, still have the opportunity to pit their wits against the bookies because Cheltenham has a history of occasional, unexpected long-odds winners nosing home and providing rich reward for those with an eye for the unpredictable. Nevertheless, form is still the key at Cheltenham and it is worth noting that, statistically, previous festival winners have a better of chance of winning at subsequent festivals. What’s more, it’s rare for a horse carrying over 11 stone to win in the handicap races.

Dettori will do himself a mischief!

June 20th, 2007 by FreeBetsmaster

I certainly don’t want to suggest a bet on this sort of thing but as Royal Ascot Betting got underway yesterday and we saw an unbelievably close finish in the Queen Anne Stakes, Frankie Dettori did his usual celebratory leap from his mount on completing his victory.

Great to see, lots of fun for everyone with a few “Wah-heeeys” from the crowd but does anyone else think that if his foot doesn’t come out of his stirrup one day, he’s going to do himself some serious damage. If it happened - and honestly, I sincerely hope it doesn’t! - I don’t think his boss is going to be too thrilled with him. I do wonder if his wealthy employers have ever had a word about “the victory leap” as he did off Ramonti yesterday. When you think of the money that’s involved for these guys, you could forgive the top men for amending the contract of employment to get Frankie to refrain from such frivolity.

I hope he continues with it, it’s his trademark after all. I just had a thought about it and imagined that if I was in charge of Frankie, I would be more of a nervous wreck if he’d won a race than actually during one!

I must be getting old.

Free Money offer with Victor Chandler’s Free Bet

April 20th, 2007 by FreeBetsmaster

Just when you thought that Horse Racing online betting calendar was going to quieten down and the Grand National Betting frenzie was over, there’s another one on it’s way this weekend - the Scottish Grand National. Betting will again be frantic as this other national favourite gets underway.

Victor Chandler are offering their usual free bet sign up reward and repeating their offer from last week’s weeks main Grand National :

They call it their “Free Fall” Offer which means that if you back any horse in the Scottish Grand National and your chosen steed falls, then Victor Chandler will actually refund your total losing stake as a free bet.

What a great offer to take up on a great day of fun and excitement!

Don’t forget that this offer also applies to an unseated rider, one that is brought down, a refused or slipped up horse and rider. £50 is required per selection and this applies to win only bets and each way bets, singles only and also to online betting or telephone bets. These free bets are available now.

This will be one of the major horse racing events in the calendar until the Epsom Derby  and Royal Ascot come along in June.

Grand National weekend betting

April 13th, 2007 by FreeBetsmaster

This weekend sees Grand National free bets being the buzz word. Free money offers abound as the bookies go for your business! Take a good look around our list of online betting bookmakers with whom we are affiliated because they are all fighting to get you as a customer when this event gets close.

We’ve discussed this before and there’s no change as the weekend starts, casual and part-time punters will flock to bookies for their one-time flutter, albeit a small one, and experience the buzz of having a stake on a horse race. This is how many people get started in sports betting.

So how do you make some money? Well, fortunately for the racegoers, horses and riders, the going is likely to be good with the dry weather we’ve had. Unfortunately, this doesn’t give much of a degree of uncertainty about the result in terms of getting a winner with good odds. I’m talking about the 300 + to 1 shots. So, it’ll have to be picking from the favourites if you just want to get a win. Myself, I’m going for a complete outsider to see if something bizarre will happen and I get my monkey over the line and earn some proper cash!

Grand National Free Bets Offers

April 2nd, 2007 by FreeBetsmaster

Today, this is basically an alert article for free bets on the Grand National coming up on April 14th. Seasoned campaigners in the online betting world will be aware but the casual punter may not - the Grand National is very close!

I post this as a reminder after a weekend of most of my friends asking me when the race is. Understandably, it was those friends who enjoy a casual punt who were asking.

As with most major sporting events in the sporting calendar, the British bookies will be offering free money to new customers in the form of their Grand National Free Bets BUT : they can leave these quite late. Keep checking back with us to check out who is offering what. Our regular customers will remeber Cheltenham this year when bookmakers had all sorts of increased offers in the form of an initial free bet itself and then this was followed up with a similar second free bonus of the same value if you place a further, for example, ten bets to the same stake.

If you’re keeping an eye on the National and waiting eagerly to see who to go with, site tight and wait until around a week before the event when we’ll be advised of new offers and will put them live as soon as we are notified.

See you back here soon!

Grand National Betting gets underway

March 22nd, 2007 by FreeBetsmaster

Grand National betting is underway before the race itself on 14th April this year and as always at free Betting Online, we’ll be showing you the online bookmakers for betting to maximise your stake potential before it arrives. The Grand National is particularly popular with punters who are not regular race goers but fancy a little flutter this once a year. This is where free bets really kick in on the lower end of the scale, i.e. the £10, £20 kind of values that a newcomer would like to stake when they open their account. The race naturally attracts nationwide interest and so betting really heats up very close to the event itself. Again, as with

Cheltenham, the bookmakers will be hotly contesting for your business and it’s worth keeping an ear to the ground with us to see if their offers and sign up bonuses are improved as we approach the date. If you need some more background information and guidance or even the bookmakers to visit to register with then do visit our Grand National Betting page. We also have a separate page for the special offered by Sporting Odds who have a £30 Grand National free bet offer

Free Bets coming up for Royal Ascot

March 16th, 2007 by FreeBetsmaster

Here at Free Betting Online we aim to bring the very latest free bets and free money offers and so we’re preparing you well in advance of Royal Ascot Betting to check out the online information we have for the event in June.

It goes without saying then that betting will be frantic as the meeting gets closer.

Again, similarly to Cheltenham, the venue is quite stunning if you haven’t been before. Magnificent stands and facilities and the track itslf is one of the best in the world. Unfortunately, there are only so many tickets and so we offer you a place to watch the odds, the results and winners from the comfort of your own home.

Cheltenham Betting is hotter than ever

March 8th, 2007 by FreeBetsmaster

The Cheltenham Festival takes place from 13th March this year and free bets offers from the bookies have been snapped up more than ever. Why? Well the big name is of course is Kauto Star who most would bet on but he’s pitched against War Of Attrition who was the winner from last year.

It is basically going to be one of the most hottly contested races at Cheltenham for decades, maybe the biggest ever. Free bets offers abound so check out our Cheltenham Betting article to see which of the UK bookmakers are giving sign rewards to new registrations. Our betting article will show other contenders and give you the opportunity to click through to some of the bookies websites to see how the betting odds are stacking up and make a comparison.

As we mentioned in the blog last week, to make the most of Cheltenham, you really should make an effort to go to the meeting. It’ll be a fight to get a ticket but an unforgettable day out is assurred.
