X Factor Betting 2008
The X Factor is getting into its stride with the final twelve contestants announced on Saturday after visits to such exotic destinations as Cannes, St. Tropez, Barbados and, er, Ireland. Each of the judges took their happy protégés off to these sunny places although the Groups faces fell somewhat when they learned they were going to the Emerald Isle. The object of this exercise was to pare the chosen few down to the three finalists in each of the four categories, Girls, Boys, Groups and Over 25s.

Music Betting fans are already exercising their latent A&R skills and online betting sites report a high volume of betting in these early stages of the contest. It’s not just about the overall winner though. You can bet on the winner in each category, the first elimination and also which judge will win. Right now, Cheryl Cole is the bookies favourite closely followed by Simon Cowell. Further down the field are Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh.
Progress in X Factor Betting 2008
The Girls jetted off to a fabulous villa in Cannes with mentor, Cheryl Cole, assisted by fellow Girls Aloud member, Kimberley Walsh. Of the three finally chosen, Diana Vickers put in a compelling performance of ‘Nothing Compares to U’ although her lack of confidence is something that has troubled the judges from the outset. Also chosen was Laura White, in the top three on online betting sites, whose performance of ‘Cry Me a River’ was good enough to dispel previous concerns that Cheryl had about her being like ‘Amy Winehouse after a few drinks’. Bookies current favourite to win outright, Alexandra Burke was the final selection after a soulful performance of the Beyonce song, ‘Listen’.
The Groups went off to Ireland with Louis Walsh mentoring, aided by Shane Finan from Westlife. None of the Groups seem to be attracting much interest from the bookies with Girlband first in line for elimination and Bad Lashes not far behind, which seems odd because their version of ‘Wonderwall’ was actually really good. JLS seem to be in with the best shout among the groups. Their rendition of ‘Air’ impressed both Louis and Shane.
Dannii Minogue whisked her flock of the Over 25s off to St. Tropez, having enlisted Spice Girl, Emma Bunton to help make her choices. First up was Daniel Evans who the bookies rate as top in this category. Stacks of emotion carried his version of ‘Against all Odds’ and won him his selection. Ruth Lorenzo put in another emotional performance with ‘True Colours’ which I felt fell far short of the Cyndi Lauper version but persuaded Danii to put her on the list. Last to be chosen was the tempestuous Rachel Hylton whose delivery of Christine Aguilera’s ‘Beautiful’ was enough to persuade.
Simon Cowell got to go to Barbados with the Boys and drafted in the sultry Sinitta to help him in his difficult choices. The youngest of all the contestants, Eoghan Quigg, was first up and gave a slightly shaky performance of ‘Father and Son’. Simon and Sinitta were not convinced but his cuteness got him through. Austin Drage, currently the bookies second choice for overall win, gave a deeply emotional performance of ‘She’s out of my Life’ and had Simon and Sinitta eating out of his hand. Scott Bruton, their final choice pleased with a competent ‘I can’t make you love me’.
